Pseudobulbs conic crowded on slender rhizome. Leaf I, terete,
4 to 5 in. long. Scape in basal sheath woolly, 2 in. long. Flowers
I or 2, pale lemon. Bracts ovate, '12 in. long. Pedicel '75 in.
long. Upper sepallanceolate, '5 in. long, laterals broad triangular;
mentum large round, all woolly outside, rather large round. Petals
linear woolly. Lip dull red. Hab. Mountains, on trees at 2000
to 6000 ft. altitude, more rarely in mangroves. Singapore, Kranji.

Rhizome branching; pseudobulbs obovate narrowed above
into a stalk covered with a reticulate sheath below, 3 in. long,
I in. through, 2 in. apart. Leaves 2, lanceolate or lorate coriaceous,
4 in. long, '75 to I in. wide. Flower I, scape 2 in. long
in a long sheath. Upper sepal lanceolate, laterals broad triangular
acute, '5 in. long; mentum thick long, inside ochre, outside red
pubescent. Petals narrower, light yellow lorate-Ianceolate blunt
pubescent. Lip lanceolate, side-lobes obscure, central ridge and
disc of midlobe papillose deep purple. Column tall yellow, foot
short, arms'incurved. Hab. Local. Penang, rocks on the hill at
2500 ft. altitude (Maingay, Curtis). Distrib. Java, Borneo.

apart. Leaves 3, narrow liuear curved acuminate fleshy subterete,
3 to 7 in. long. Scape from axil of an upper leaf I in. long,
woolly. Flowers 3; bract large ovate. Upper sepal lanceolate
acute, laterals triangular, '5 in. long, ochre, woolly outside; mentum
short blunt. Petals shorter lanceolate yellow. Lip entire, oblong
acute fleshy, purple, centre nearly yellow. Column slender, green.
Capsule fusiform, I in. long. Hab. On trees. Singapore, Kranji;
Serangoon. Johor, Batu Pahat. Malacca, Bukit Bruang (Derry).

Tall or short, sometimes woody plants, densely hairy leafy, no
pseudobulbs. Leaves fleshy sessile alternate. Flowers hairy
sessile in small or long axillary racemes, I to many, covered with
red hairs outside. Sep',!ls as in Eria but usually sub-equal; mentum
moderately long. Petals narrower. Lip usually sub-entire, base
narrow, limb quite entire or obscurely 3-lobed; midlobe sometimes
