white spotted chestnut. Lip side-lobes 4-angled, tooth-like, yellow<br />

spotted chestnut, midlobe narrow, tongue-shaped, tip decurved<br />

rosy, an oblong bifid callus between side-lobes, a lanceolate blunt<br />

one at base of midlobe. Capsule linear narrow, 3 in. long. Hab.<br />

Very rare in dense dripping forest on mossy -trees. Pahang, Tahan<br />

Leaves obovate-Ianceolate or elliptic acute, 4 to 9 in. long,<br />

2'5 to 3 in. wide. Scape 15 in. long or less. Racemes I to 4 in.<br />

thick, not flat, 3 in. long. Flowers 1'5 in. wide. Upper sepals<br />

lanceolate blunt, yellow with or without a red bar, laterals oblique<br />

with a transverse red bar, or all red at base, tip yellow. Petals<br />

spathulate or obovate. Lip side-lobes oblong truncate toothed white,<br />

midlobe obovate, tip round orange, central bar white elevate, 3 or<br />

more Indian red streaks on each side, callus bifid at base. Column<br />

narrowed, middle greenish, hood ovate. Hab. On trees. Johor,<br />

Sungei Tebrau forests. Perak, hot springs near Ipoh; Tapah;<br />

Sungei Siput (Curtis). Dindings (Curtis). Distrib. Phillippines<br />

(fide Cogniaux).<br />

Big epiphyte, climbing. Leaves lorate coriaceous bilobed.<br />

Raceme long. Flowers large expanded. Sepals oblong, laterals<br />

falcate. Petals narrower. Lip spurless, side-lobes short erect,<br />

midlobe 3-lobed. Column short thick, arms erect. Anther ovate,<br />

beaked. Pollinia 2 on a spathulate caudicle, disc elliptic. Species I,<br />

Siam and Malay Peninsula.<br />

Epiphytic plants with the habit of Phalcenopsis. Leaves oblanceolate<br />

blunt, brQa_d. SCElpes tall branched; flowers small. Upper<br />

sepal oblong, laterals larger curved. Petals smaller. Lip sidelobes<br />

erect, obovate, midlobe obcordate, base of lip adnate to foot<br />

of column and forming a mentum. Species about 5, Indo-Malaya.
