Small tufted epiphytes not pseudobulbous; stems simple or<br />

branched. Leaves 1 or 2, narrow coriaceous or fleshy. Flowers<br />

very small rarely medium solitary or in a tuft white or pink, lateral<br />

sepals forming a mentum. Petals narrower. Lip adnate to column<br />

foot by the claw, blade entire fleshy. Column short, tip broad;<br />

stigma very large with two long arms. Column foot long; anther<br />

2-celled. Pollinia 8. Species 20 or more, Indo-Malaya, Polynesia.<br />

Stems simple succulent, rush-like.<br />

Stems tufted terete with brown sheaths at base, 3 to-g in. long.<br />

Leaf 1, erect terminal terete, '5 to 1'5 in. long. Flowers in a lateral<br />

tuft from leaf base, produced singly, '25 in. long, pale pink, pubescent.<br />

Bracts ovate. Sepals lanceolate blunt; mentum globose.<br />

Petals smalllanceolate yellowish. Lip shoe-shaped pubescent, claw<br />

short. Column short, foot as long, arms longer than column.<br />

Capsule oblong sub-sessile. Hab. Common on trees and rocks.<br />

Johor, Batu Pahat. Pahang, Gunong Tahan on rocks (whole<br />

plant yellow).; Telom. Malacca, Mt. Ophir (Griffith). Selangor,<br />

Menuang Gasing (Robinson); Semangkok Pass (Ridley). Perak,<br />

Thaiping Hills; Teluk Anson (Williams). Province Wellesley, I<br />

Bukit Sera yah. Kedah Peak. Pulau Adang. Distrib. Java.<br />

I suppose this to be Blume's C. subulata. Specimens of C. gracilis Bl.<br />

from Blume, in Herb. Kew, have flat, not terete leaves, as Blume descnbes.<br />

But I have seen no specimen of our species from Java.<br />

Stems tufted, 2 to 4 in. long, covered with sheaths. Leaf 1,<br />

narrow linear-Ianceolate acute, 1 to 3'5 in. long, '25 in. wide.<br />

Flowers opening singly, '3 in. wide; pedicel and ovary pubescent<br />

filiform, '5 in. long. Sepals oblong-Ianceolate acute. Petals<br />

smaller; mentum short bilobed. Lip narrow, base oblong, tip<br />

thick dagger-shaped< Column arms long, oblong blunt. Hab.<br />

Selangor, Menuang Gasing (Kloss); Pahang, Bukit Fraser (Burkill).<br />

Perak (Scortechini).
