prolonged into a cylindric process. Style short and thick;<br />

stigmas 3 bilobed, pear-shaped. Fruit indehiscent 3-winged.<br />

Species 2, India and Ceylon; Malay Peninsula.<br />

Rhizome very short. Stems with I leaf, lanceolate or cordateovate,<br />

3 to 4 in. long, I to 2·5 in. wide; petioles 2 to 3 in. long.<br />

Flowers I to 4 from the tuft of bracts; pedicels I to 2 in. long.<br />

Perianth purple, ·5 in. across. Fruit ·75 in. long, fleshy green with<br />

pink spots; pedicel 2 in. long. Hab. Rare. In sandy spots in<br />

woods in small patches. Pahang, Tahan woods; Kelantan near<br />

Kwala Lebir, Chaning (Ridley).<br />

2. STENOMERIS, Planch.<br />

Climbers. Leaves ovate or ovate-Ianceolate cordate, manynerved<br />

reticulate. Cymes axillary short. Flowers small pedicelled<br />

bisexual green or brown urceolate, lobes narrow. Stamens 6;<br />

filaments adnate to mouth of tube, connective prolonged to a short<br />

point. Style short conic. Capsule elongate, 3-winged, 3"valved
