Stem short and thick. Leaves lorate stiff, 7 in. long, I'S in.<br />

wide. Raceme 2'S in. long; peduncle thick. Sepals'S in. long,<br />

oblong-ovate broad blunt. Petals narrower spathulate, all yellow<br />

with red spots on back and red bars in front. Lip spurless, sidelobes<br />

curved long blunt, midlobe ovate yellow with 3 red streaks<br />

on side lobes, disc pubescent. Column base broad, yellow with<br />

2 pink spots, arms short erect. Hab. Penang, Government Hill<br />

(Curtis). Terutau (Curtis). Lankawi (Williams).<br />

Stems very stout, tall or short. Leaves very thick lorate<br />

bilobed at tip. Raceme lateral short tall. Flowers large fleshy<br />

showy. Sepals oblong. Petals little smaller. Lip adnate to<br />

base of column short spurless, side-lobes short, midlobe oblong,<br />

an oblong callus at base. Column short, broad, no foot, wings or<br />

arms. Rostellum bifid, entire or lobed processes from below stigma.<br />

Anthers conic I-celled. Pollinia 2, on a broad caudicle, disc reniform.<br />

Species 10, Malayan and Indian, China, Polynesia.<br />

ridges yellow, callus conic; stigmatic process retuse. Capsule<br />

oblong, 4 in. long, I'S in. through. Hab. On trees and rocks.<br />

Lankawi isles, Kwah. Terutau (Curtis). Perlis, Kanga. Distrib.<br />

Epiphytes with short stems. Leaves oblong or obovate few,<br />

coriaceous. Racemes short or long pedicelled, sometimes several.<br />

Flowers often showy. Sepals sub-equal. Yetals often larger.<br />

Lip spurless clawed or adnate to column base, side-lobes erect,<br />

usually with a forked or entire callus. Column rather long; anther<br />

2-celled, caudicle linear or spathulate with a disc. Species about<br />

25, India, Indo-China, Malaya.<br />
