Rhizome very stout woody, '25 in. thick; pseudo bulbs cylindric,<br />

2'5 to 3 in. long, 3 in. or more apart. Leaf lanceolate acute, 9 in.<br />

long, 3 in. wide; petiole I in. long. Peduncle 4 to 10 in. long,<br />

base covered with red sheaths. Flowers about IS, purple, hairy, I in.<br />

long, fretid. Bracts lanceolate acute, '5 in. long. Ovary and pedicel<br />

'5 in. long. Upper sepal linear-oblong, laterals as long ovate concave<br />

at base. Petals lanceolate acuminate. Lip glabrous half as long<br />

lanceolate acute. Capsule cylindric, 1'5 in. long. Hab. On trees<br />

and rocks. Johor, Kukub on trees (Ridley). Negri Sembilan,<br />

Siliau (Williams). Perak (Scortechini). Penang Hill and Bukit<br />

Rhizome woody, stout; pseudo bulbs conic, I in. long, I in.<br />

apart. Leaf elliptic thinly coriaceous blunt, 8 in. long, 2'5 in.<br />

wide; petiole 4 in. long. Peduncle stout, 12 to 18 in. long; racemes<br />

6 in. long. Flowers many, sub-whorled, green with pink spots,<br />

'5 to ·6 in. across, or half as big. Bracts short ovate. Pedicels<br />

'25 in. long. Sepals lanceolate, laterals falcate. Petals broad<br />

oblong blunt, half as long. Lip 3-lobed, claw short narrow, side<br />

lobes round with 2 bosses between, midlobe lanceolate, base narrow.<br />

Column broad-winged, arms acute. Anther large elliptic with a<br />

long fleshy pustular conic process on top. Hab. Mountains at 2500<br />

to 8000 ft. altitude, Pahang, Gunong Berumbun (Wray). Perak,<br />

'12 in. apart. Leaf oblanceolate, blunt, fleshy, coriaceous, 3 to<br />

5 in. long, pink; raceme decurved, I in. long. Flowers 20 crowded<br />

appressed to rachis. Bracts very small. Ovary and pedicel very<br />

short. Upper sepal nearly '25 in. long, lanceolate acute, white<br />

tipped and veined purple, laterals little longer linear oblong pink.<br />

Petals half as long ovate cuspidate toothed, white, teeth and nerves<br />

purple. Lip short-clawed, blade straight oblong blunt, edge ciliate<br />

yellowiSh, claw pink. Column white, foot shorter, arms bifid, lobes<br />

linear-oblong 2-toothed. Capsule elliptic, '36 in. long. Hab.<br />

Penang Hill at 2400 to 3000 ft. altitude (Fox and Curtis). Distrib.<br />
