About 2 ft. tall. Leaves lanceolate long-acuminate pubescent<br />

or hairy on midrib beneath and ligule and sheath,s in. long, 1'5 in.<br />

wide, sheath spotted purple. Panicle long slender; branches<br />

1 in. long, distant. Flowers few crowded at tips orange; bracts<br />

very small. Calyx campanulate, 2 long and 1 short lobes, '12 in.<br />

long. Staminodes linear-oblong, '15 in. long. Lip short linear<br />

entire, orange with a brown spot. Filament'5 in. long; anther<br />

spurless. Capsule globose smooth. Hab. Local. Perak, Thaiping<br />

Hills (Fox); Penang Hill (Wallich, Curtis, etc.).<br />

Stems slender, 2 ft. long or less. Leaves lanceolate acuminate,<br />

3 in. long, 'S in. wide, pubescent beneath; sheaths spotted red hairy.<br />

Panicle slender; branches '25 in. long. Flowers 2 or 3 on each.<br />

Bracts oblong green. Calyx funnel-shaped, lobes rather long.<br />

Corolla tube '25 in. long, lobes ovate-oblong, upper one boatshaped,<br />

'5 in. long, orange. Staminodes oblong blunt. Lip narrow<br />

bilobed, orange with a black spot. Filament '25 to'5 in. long ; anther<br />

elliptic, no margin or spurs. Hab. Damp spots, but not common.<br />

Closely resembles G. panicoides, Miq., except in th; spurless anther.<br />

Stems few tufted, 9 to 24 in. long. Leaves narrow lanceolate<br />

acuminate to ovate, 1'75 to 5 in. long, '75 to 1'5 in. wide; ligule<br />

hispid; sheaths red spotted pubescent. Panicle slender; branches<br />

usually short. Flowers few orange. Calyx unequally 3-toothed,<br />

one tooth longer than the others, lanceolate blunt. Corolla-tube<br />

'5 in. long, lobes 'S in. long. Staminodes longer. Lip short oblong<br />

bilobed, central spot brqwn. Filament 1 in. long, connective<br />

developed all round, spurs two subulate. Capsule globose, '25 in.<br />

long. Hab. Common in damp low-lying spots. Singapore, Bukit<br />
