Stems tall wiry, I to 8 ft. tall. Leaves lanceolate blunt, 5 to<br />

6 in. long, 1 to 1'5 in. wide. Racemes terminal gradually elongating,<br />

3 to 12 in. long. Bracts distichous boat-shaped acute, '12 in. long.<br />

Flowers appearing singly fragrant, 3 in. across. Sepals lanceolate<br />

acute. Petals shorter, all white or tinted pink. Lip side-lobes<br />

lanceolate sub-acute, white veined violet, a median pubescent line<br />

on disc, midlobe obovate-oblong centre yellow mealy, edges white,<br />

base spotted violet. Column white, hood emarginate. Capsule<br />

sessile, 2'5 in. long. Hab. In open grassy spots, often very tall<br />

on wet rocks. Common. Singapore (common). Johor, Batu<br />

Pahat, Malacca (Cuming); Mt. Ophir (Derry). Dindings, Sembilan<br />

isles (Kloss). Perak, Thaiping Waterfall; Asam Kumbang (Wray).<br />

Habit of preceding but stems weak and slender, I to 6 ft. tall.<br />

Leaves lanceolate thin, 5 in. long, '75 in. wide, top unequally bifid.<br />

Racemes I or 2. Flowers I in. wide, smaller orange colour. Sepals<br />

lanceolate acuminate. Petals wider. Lip side-lobes erect blunt<br />

yellowish, veined crimson, edge white, midlobe ovate acute, white,<br />

centre orange. Column slender, curved yellow, base spotted crimson<br />

hood entire. Hab. In shady woods seldom flowering. Singapore,<br />

Kranji. Johor, Gunong Pantai and Gunong Pulai (Ridley). Dtstrib.<br />

Borneo.<br />

Terrestrial; stems 5 ft. tall, flattened. Leaves lorate-Ianceolate<br />

fles.hy, 4 in. long, '75 in. wide. Flowers 3 or 4 in a lateral tuft,<br />

2 in. across. Ovary and pedicel I in. long. Sepals lanceolate<br />

blunt pale yellow or cream colour, backs tinted red. Petals shorter<br />

broader, pale yellow. Lip as long as sepals, side-lobes long falcate<br />

acute, white veined crimson, midlobe fleshy lanceolate oblong,<br />

sides in curved white red dotted edge crisped, raised bar of lip yellow.<br />

Column yellow, hood round, base pink. Hab. On rocks at 4000 ft.<br />

altitude. Malacca, Mt. Ophir. Pahang, Gunong Tahan (Ridley).<br />

Kedah Peak (Haniff).
