Not rare. Singapore (Cuming); Sungei Jurong. Johor, Sungei<br />

Ban, Batu Pahat. Perak, Temengoh (Ridley). Landawi isles,<br />

Kwah (Curtis), Perlis Kanga. Distrib. Siam, Borneo.<br />

Intermediate forms between this and the preceding occur, perhaps hybrids.<br />

(3) C. rectum Ridl.<br />

Habit of C. pubescens, but leaves erect, very stiff semi-terete,<br />

deeply grooved, coriaceous, 18 in. long, '25 in. wide, obtusely<br />

unequally bilobed. Scapes erect, I ft. long. Flowers few distant.<br />

Bracts short ovate acute. Ovary and pedicel I in. long. Sepals<br />

lanceolate, '75 in. long. Petals narrower, yellowish with a purple<br />

central band. Lip hardly lobed, side-lobes obscure rounded,<br />

midlobe ovate blunt, white with central yellow bar and a crimson<br />

spot near the tip, side lobes spotted crimson inside and on outside<br />

edge. Column straight rather broad, white densely spotted in<br />

front, back purple pink. Anther broad blunt, yellow. Pollinia<br />

2, connate at top broad semi-orbicular, disc semi-lunar. Hab. Negri<br />

Sembilan, Siliau, Seremban (Williams). Perak, Thaiping Hills?<br />

First cultivated in the Gardens at Singapore, and believed to have been<br />

collected in Perak.<br />

Tufted epiphyte; rhizome tbick. Leaves narrow grassy not<br />

articulate, I ft. long, '25 in. wide. Scape erect or nodding. Flowers<br />

few. Bracts ovate acute. Pedicel and ovary I in. long. Sepals<br />

lanceolate acute white with median purple band I in. long.<br />

Petals shorter. Lip shorter, side-lobes long blunt, white, edges and<br />

veins crimson, disc yellow with 2 keels thickened at tip, midlobe<br />

ovate mucronate, deep crimson, central yellow spot. Column<br />

straight violet. Capsule fusiform beaked, 3 in. long. Hab. Perak,<br />

Thaiping Hills; Waterloo (Ridley). Distrib. Sikkim, Assam.<br />

Tufted plant; stem about 2 in. long. Leaves grassy linear<br />

acuminate articulate, 20 in. long, '5 in. wide. Scape 14 in. long,<br />

with few distant flowers, base with lanceolate acuminate narrow<br />

sheaths. Bracts narrow lanceolate acuminate, '75 in. long or less.<br />

Pedicels 1'5 in. long. Flowers 2 in. wide. Sepals lanceolate acute,<br />

yellowish, green with purple lines. Petals ovate broader. Lip<br />

oblong, side-lobes hardly distinct incurved, midlobe oblong truncate,<br />

pinkish dotted darker. Column rather broad, yellowish with<br />

pink dots. Hab. Setul, Bukit Bunga (Haniff). Lankawi, Kwah<br />

(Haniff). Distrib. Sikkim.<br />
