white (or yellow) tipped green. Lip side-lobes white with violetrose<br />

streaks, oblong truncate, midlobe obcordate retuse, violet<br />

pink, callus bifid white between side-lobes. Hab. On trees,<br />

widely spread but not common. Malacca, Bukit Bangkang<br />

Usually terrestrial. Leaves few,oblanceolate coriaceous blunt.<br />

Scape tall erect, raceme lax, many-flowered. Flowers pink or<br />

white, medium. Upper sepal oblanceolate, lower ovate oblique<br />

adnate to column foot. Petals obovate. Lip clawed, 2 narrow<br />

processes below the broad erect side-lobes, midlobe ovate. Column<br />

broad, dilate at base. Anther long-beaked; pollinia globose,<br />

caudicle long spathulate, disc rhomboid. Species I, Burma,<br />

Cochin China, Siam.<br />

Terrestrial (or epiphytic) plants, often tall, scandent. Leaves<br />

coriaceous (flat) or terete. Flowers large showy in racemes or<br />

panicles. Sepals and petals sub-equal. Lip large, base saccate<br />

or spurred, side-lobes large or small. Column short. Species about<br />

30, Asia and Australasia.<br />

Scandent stems slender, 12 ft. long. Leaves terete, 2 to 3 in.<br />

long. Flowers large thin, 2 to 3 in. wide, in racemes or fewbranched<br />

panicles; peduncles 6 to 8 in. long. Upper sepal obovate<br />

pale rose, laterals much larger oblique oblong white. Petals<br />

broad obovate twisted pale rose. Lip 1'5 in. long, side-lobes oblong<br />

acuminate blunt deep purple, midlobe 3-lobed, side-lobes oblong,
