Tahan River. Negri Sembilan, Siliau (Williams). Perak, Ipoh.<br />

Epiphytes with short pseudobulbs. Leaves lanceolate thinly<br />

coriaceous. Inflorescence terminal erect, stem covered with papery<br />

bracts in the axils of which are one or more racemes or panicles<br />

of small green (or purple or yellow) flowers sub-sessile. Upper<br />

sepals lanceolate, laterals triangular adnate to the column foot.<br />

Petals very narrow. Lip jointed on the column foot clawed<br />

lobes small. Column short broad, foot long. Anther 1- to 2-celled.<br />

Pollinia 4 ovoid with (usually) a broad disc. Capsule small ellipsoid.<br />

Species 100, all tropics. Chiefly African.<br />

All our species are very closely allied and show very little difference from<br />

the BrazllIan P. luteola Lindl.<br />

Pseudo bulbs globose, '25 in. long. Leaves oblong-Iorate, 2 to<br />

4 in. long, I in. wide. Inflorescence 2 to 6 in. long; rachis of<br />

racemes pubescent. Flowers yellowish green. Bracts ovate acumi·<br />

nate. Sepals bullate. Petals linear-spathulate. Lip narrow thin,<br />

side-lobes falcate linear acute, midlobe longer ovate pulverulent,<br />

spotted pink inside. No rostellum. Hab. Rare. On trees near<br />

the sea. Singapore, Sungei Morai (Ridley).<br />

Pseudo bulbs conic, I in. long. Inflorescence 5 to 10 in. long.<br />

Racemes branched, I in. long. Flowers greenish yellow. Sepals<br />

and petals acute. Petals spathulate. Lip broad, side-lobes short<br />

ovate, midlobe ovate blunt hardly longer, pubescent yellow with a<br />

brown median line. Capsule'5 in. long, reticulate between tbe<br />

ribs. Hab. Local. Penang Hill at 1800 ft. altitude (Curtis).<br />

Pseudobulbs '5 to I in. long. Leaves 5 in. long, '5 to I in. wide.<br />

Inflorescence 4 to 12 in. long; rachis pubescent. Flowers larger<br />

and more fleshy than preceding. Bracts ovate subulate. Sepal<br />

upper ovate-Ianceolate, laterals triangular green. Petals narrower,<br />

falcate acute white. Lip obovate broad, mealy, side-lobes small
