sepal ovate aristate, hairy, yellowish brown or pink spotted darker,<br />

laterals connate oblong blunt, '75 in. long, '13 in. wide, reddish or<br />

pink with darker spots or suffused rosy. Petals as long as upper<br />

sepal, lanceolate aristate hairy. Lip very small recurved channelled<br />

with 3 ribs yellow tip purple or brown. Column foot hardly as<br />

long, yellowish or pink spotted, arms short rounded. Hab. Trees<br />

in low country. Singapore, Bajau. johor, Kwala Kahang (Kelsall).<br />

Malacca, Sungei Rambei. Negri Sembilan, Siliau (Williams).<br />

Dtstrib. Tenasserim, Borneo.<br />

Rhizome long; pseudobulbs crowded, conic, 4-angled, 1'5 in.<br />

long, '5 in. thick. Leaf oblanceolate blunt, 7 in. long, I in. wide.<br />

Scape stout, 10 in. long, red. Flowers about 10. Bracts lanceolate<br />

long-acuminate. Upper sepal ovate acuminate reddish, edge<br />

hairy, laterals connate for whole length oblong-lanceolate, I in.<br />

long, '25 in. wide, orange-ochre red spotted. Petals lanceolate,<br />

edges hairy red. Lip tongue-shaped, recurved olive. Column<br />

long, foot slender, arms large thin, triangular. Hab. Very rare.<br />

Selangor, Semangkok Pass (Ridley).<br />

Rhizome long stout; pseudo bulbs distant, narrow oblong,<br />

long. Peduncle r ft. long. Flowers in a terminal whorl I ft.<br />

across, each over 6 in. long; pedicel r in. long, stout. Bracts<br />

lanceolate acuminate, r in. long. Sepals lanceolate cordate. Petals<br />

similar, all apple green. Lip tongue-shaped fleshy acute, cream<br />

colour with violet centre. Column oblong, broad cream marked<br />

mauve, arms 4, 2 erect, 2 broad, t:lick horizontal violet. Hab.<br />

Local. Perak, Bujong Malacca on trees (Ridley, Curtis).<br />

Rhizome woody creeping branched; pseudo bulbs usually distant.<br />

Leaf solitary coriaceous. Raceme slender from the rhizome near<br />

the pseudobulb with dry sheaths at base. Flowers numerous very<br />

small, white. Sepals narrow equal, laterals adnate to columnfoot.<br />

·Column rather tall with lateral arms, top hooded. Anther<br />

2-celled, pollinia 4, ovoid united by a viscid mass. Capsule subglobose<br />

or 3-angled. Species about 15, Malay Peninsula and islands.<br />
