Epiphytic; pseudo bulbs ovoid blunt angled, grey, 2'5 in. long.
Leaves appearing after flowering, lanceolate, 12 to 18 in. long, 3 in.
wide. Scape from side of pseudobulb 12 to 18 in. long, villous.
Bracts persistent, ovate, '75 to I in. long. Flowers about 12 in
lax raceme white; pedicel and ovary 1'5 in. long. Sepals ovatelanceolate,
I in. long. Petals broad oblong. Lip side-lobes
cuneate obovate, midlobe fan-shaped obcordate, white with red or
yellow eye, spur very long slender. Hab. Very rare. Selangor,
top of Batu rocks (one plant). Pulau Adang, Pulau Nipis, pseudobulbs
apparently of this on a fallen bough (Ridley). Distrib.
Tenasserim, Borneo. Celebes.

Pseudobulbs conic grooved, 6 in. long. Leaves 12 to 20 in.
long, 5 to 6 in. wide, ovate-Ianceolate. Scape 2 ft. long, woolly
pubescent. Flowers rose pink or white. Bracts ovate acuminate
pubescent, I in. long. Pedicel and ovary 2 in. long. Sepals lanceolate
acuminate, '75 in. long. Petals shorter. Lip side-lobes oblong,
erect blunt, midlobe linear-oblong bilobed blunt, base of lip darker,
raised lines, spur filiform, '5 in. long. Hab. On rocks, Lankawi
islands (Curtis). Pedis, Bukit Lagi (Ridley).
Like P. vestlta, but flowers much smaller and usually pmk.

Large terrestrial herbs. Leaves herbaceous plaited. Scape
from rhizome or racemes axillary few-flowered from leafy stem.
Flowers large showy. Sepals and petals lanceolate equal free. Lip
adnate to column base embracing it convolute gibbous at base or
spurred.. Column long stout, no foot. Antner 4-celled. Pollinia 8,
attached by fours to a disc. Species 14, Old World Tropics.
Scape from base of pseudobulb tall, racemose; flowers large.
