Epiphytic; pseudo bulbs ovoid blunt angled, grey, 2'5 in. long.<br />

Leaves appearing after flowering, lanceolate, 12 to 18 in. long, 3 in.<br />

wide. Scape from side of pseudobulb 12 to 18 in. long, villous.<br />

Bracts persistent, ovate, '75 to I in. long. Flowers about 12 in<br />

lax raceme white; pedicel and ovary 1'5 in. long. Sepals ovatelanceolate,<br />

I in. long. Petals broad oblong. Lip side-lobes<br />

cuneate obovate, midlobe fan-shaped obcordate, white with red or<br />

yellow eye, spur very long slender. Hab. Very rare. Selangor,<br />

top of Batu rocks (one plant). Pulau Adang, Pulau Nipis, pseudobulbs<br />

apparently of this on a fallen bough (Ridley). Distrib.<br />

Tenasserim, Borneo. Celebes.<br />

Pseudobulbs conic grooved, 6 in. long. Leaves 12 to 20 in.<br />

long, 5 to 6 in. wide, ovate-Ianceolate. Scape 2 ft. long, woolly<br />

pubescent. Flowers rose pink or white. Bracts ovate acuminate<br />

pubescent, I in. long. Pedicel and ovary 2 in. long. Sepals lanceolate<br />

acuminate, '75 in. long. Petals shorter. Lip side-lobes oblong,<br />

erect blunt, midlobe linear-oblong bilobed blunt, base of lip darker,<br />

raised lines, spur filiform, '5 in. long. Hab. On rocks, Lankawi<br />

islands (Curtis). Pedis, Bukit Lagi (Ridley).<br />

Like P. vestlta, but flowers much smaller and usually pmk.<br />

Large terrestrial herbs. Leaves herbaceous plaited. Scape<br />

from rhizome or racemes axillary few-flowered from leafy stem.<br />

Flowers large showy. Sepals and petals lanceolate equal free. Lip<br />

adnate to column base embracing it convolute gibbous at base or<br />

spurred.. Column long stout, no foot. Antner 4-celled. Pollinia 8,<br />

attached by fours to a disc. Species 14, Old World Tropics.<br />

Scape from base of pseudobulb tall, racemose; flowers large.<br />
