Reed-like erect hollow-stemmed plants. Leaves stiff lanceolate<br />

or linear acuminate. Panicles lax pubescent, large. Flowers<br />

scattered, small. Sepals chartaceous. Petals as long. Stamens<br />

6, or 1 aborted. Ovary conic. Style simple; stigmas 3, linear.<br />

Berry very small succulent, 2- or 3-seeded. Species 4, Polynesia<br />

and Malay isles.<br />
