much branched. Flowers clustered, white, sessile. Sepals orbicular.
Petals oblong blunt. Styles 3, thick and long. Drupe
globose, '25 in. through, pink, thinly pulpy. Seed one, black.

Reed-like erect hollow-stemmed plants. Leaves stiff lanceolate
or linear acuminate. Panicles lax pubescent, large. Flowers
scattered, small. Sepals chartaceous. Petals as long. Stamens
6, or 1 aborted. Ovary conic. Style simple; stigmas 3, linear.
Berry very small succulent, 2- or 3-seeded. Species 4, Polynesia
and Malay isles.
