Saprophytic leafless plant, 6 in. tall, roots thick; stems covered<br />

with ovate acuminate sheaths. Flowers 4 or 5 in short terminal<br />

spike. Sepals lanceolate acuminate, '25 in. long. Petals shorter<br />

narrower. Lip lanceolate, base saccate, side-lobes involute hardly<br />

distinct, midlobe blunt. Anther ovate beaked curved upwards.<br />

Rostellum o. Hab. In forests scarce and difficult to find. Pahang,<br />

Gunong Tahan (Haniff). Malacca, Merlimau. Selangor, Semangkok<br />

Pass (Ridley). Distrib. Java, Borneo, Philippines.<br />

Terrestrial herbs; stems ascending. Leaves ovate or lanceolate;<br />

petioled. Scapes glandular pubescent. Flowers medium<br />

size or small. Upper sepal adnate to petals forming a hood, laterals<br />

spreading. Lip adnate to column base, base saccate or spurred.<br />

Side-lobes erect or spreading; midlobe clawed, claw often pectinate,<br />

blade broadly bilobed, lobes divaricate or nearly entire, round.<br />

Column short with 2 wings in front. Anther lanceolate. Pollinia<br />

clubbed on a shield-like disc. Rostellum long bifid. Stigmata 2<br />

pustular on each side of rostellum. Species about 50, Indo-Malaya,<br />

China, including Odolltochilm, Myrmechis, and Cystopus.<br />
