Bracts oblong, 2 in. long, 1 in. wide, red. Flower I in a bract.<br />

Calyx I in. long, trifid, brown pink. Corolla tube thick, 1'5 in. long,<br />

upper lobe ovate, lower oblong; all cherry red. Lip little longer<br />

obovate convolute, yellow, streaked red. Anther-crest round, upper<br />

angles horn-like. Capsule oblong, I in. long, pubescent. Hab.<br />

Common in lowland forest up to 3000 ft. altitude. Singapore,<br />

Bukit Timah; Bukit Mandai; Selitar. ] ohor, Gunong Pulai.<br />

Malacca (Maingay); Nyalas (Goodenough). Dindings, Pangkor.<br />

Perak, Thaiping Hills (Kunstler); Bujong Malacca. Penang Hill<br />

Stem stout tall, glabrous. Leaves oblong acuminate subcoriaceous<br />

shortly narrowed at base; petioles short thick, ligule<br />

oblong truncate, longer. Spikes ovoid, 1'5 in. long; peduncles<br />

stout, 2 in. long, covered with ovate blunt round bracts pubescent,<br />

'75 in. long, '5 in. wide. Flowers large orange, lip centre red.<br />

Calyx spathaceous glabrous except the pubescent tips of the two<br />

lobes, I in. long. Corolla tube as long, lobes linear-oblong round,<br />

r'25 in. long. Lip obovate broad round, 1 in. long and nearly as<br />

wide. Stamens shorter, anther-crest small round, arms broad<br />

oblong curved truncate, 8-nerved; style hairy. Hab. Kelantan in<br />

Glam Wood Kota Bharu (Ridley).
