Leaves very large and stiff oblanceolate cuspidate; nerves 13;<br />

I ft. long, 6 in. wide; petioles thick, '25 in. through, 6 in. long.<br />

Raceme 6 in. long, flowering to base. Flowers nodding, waxy<br />

yellow, '25 in. across. Sepals and petals ovate blunt. Stamenring<br />

adnate to perianth; anthers broad. Style very stout. Ovary<br />

quite inferior. Hab. Mountain forests. Perak, Thaiping Hills<br />

(Ridley).<br />

A small species. Leaves lanceolate acuminate, 5-ribbed, 4 in.<br />

long, I in. across; petioles 3 in. long. Raceme 2 in. long. Flowers<br />

star-shaped, small, green. Sepals and petals linear, blunt, less<br />

than '12 in. long. Stamen-ring green, stamens nearly free, anthers<br />

orange. Ovary quite inferior, large obconic; style violet, longer<br />

than stamens. Hab. Rocky woods, chiefly in the north, Pahang,<br />

Tahan Woods; Telom. Perak, Gunong Kerbau at 4000 ft. altitude<br />

(Robinson). Province Wellesley, Tasek Gelugur. Penang<br />

Hill (Curtis). Kedah, Alor Sta. Distrib. Siam.<br />

P. lmmilis Andr. Bot. Rep., I.e., was perhaps meant for this species, but<br />

it is not certain.<br />

Leaves lanceolate-acuminate, both ends Io-nerved, 7 in. long,<br />

2'25 in. wide; petioles 6 in. long. Scapes 4 in. long. Flowers<br />

solitary or two together, '2 in. wide; pedicels '25 in. long. Sepals<br />

and petals oblong-ovate blunt, blue green. Stamen-ring above the<br />

mouth of tube, adnate to ovary at base only; anthers white.<br />

Ovary half inferior; style stout. Hab. Pulau Adang islands,<br />

Rawei and Pulau Adang (Ridley).<br />

Leaves much taller than in P. stellarls, but flowers as small or smaller<br />

Stems creeping short or erect elongate. Leaves linear (or lanceolate)<br />

sub-coriaceous. Scape racemose. Bracts scarious. Flowers<br />

small, white or pink, several in a bract. Perianth superior.<br />

Stamens 6, free from leaves of segments. Ovary 3-celled. Style<br />

columnar; stigma 3-toothed. Fruit and seed as in Peliosanthes.<br />

Species 10 or more, India, Java, China, Japan.<br />
