Rhizome long woody branched; pseudo bulbs slender, conic<br />

cylindric curved, '75 in. long. Leaf thin coriaceous elliptic-oblanceolate<br />

blunt, 3 in. long, I in. wide Raceme 3 in. long, sheaths at<br />

base large. Flowers '12 in. long, fleshy. Bracts ovate acute<br />

nearly as long as ovary. Sepals lanceolate acute, tip thickened<br />

terete. Petals ·narrower. Lip pandurate blunt pustular, a pustular<br />

mass at base. Column hood large, 3-toothed, arms from the middle<br />

linear, longer than the hood. H abo Rare. Singapore, Sembawang<br />

Epiphytes or rock plants, rarely terrestrial. Stems slender or<br />

stout, or with the lower or all internodes swollen into a pseudobulb.<br />

Leaves lanceolate usually coriaceous, numerous, or 2 or 3 only at<br />

the top of the stem. Inflorescence racemose axillary or subterminal,<br />

rarely panicled. Flowers I to very many, small or<br />

medium white, red or yellow, glabrous or white-tomentose. Sepals<br />

unequal, laterals forming a mentum by attachment to the column<br />

foot. Petals narrower. Lip sessile on the end of the foot, usually<br />

3-lobed. Column short, broad, rarely long, foot usually long,<br />

arms round incurved. Pollinia 8, pyriform or ovoid attached to<br />

a disc in fours, often unequal. Capsule usually narrow cylindric.<br />

Species about 200, tropical Asiatic.<br />
