Rhizomes rather slender throwing up leafy stems and inflorescences<br />

at internodes. Inflorescence racemose long peduncled,<br />

many flowered. Flowers orange or red, short pedicelled. Bracts<br />

small spathaceous. Calyx tubular trifid, lobes caudate ciliate.<br />

Corolla lobes long. Lip deeply bifid in two narrow linear lobes<br />

adnate to corolla. Filament broader than anther involute forming a<br />

tube with lip, with 2 short subulate staminodes Anther broad<br />

oblong, crest entire ovate. Species about 4, Sumatra, Borneo.<br />

Stems tall; leaves lanceolate. Spike or panicle from the side<br />

of the leafy stalk on short peduncle. Flowers small, densely crowded<br />

fleshy. Bracts ovate laciniate. Calyx spathaceous. Corolla tube<br />

short and thick, lobes oblong, fleshy. Lip flat oblong. Staminodes<br />

2 short subulate processes. Anther oblong emarginate, crestless.<br />

Capsule ovoid or oblong crustaceous. Seeds 3 or 4 in a cell.<br />

Species 4, Malayan.<br />
