US missile and RPV designations<br />

US unmanned air vehicles have their own designation<br />

system. This works in the same way as that for military<br />

aircraft, though it should be noted that manned aircraft<br />

converted as remotely piloted drones or targets retain<br />

their original designation, with the drone prefix (Q)<br />

added. An exception is the Sperry (Convair) PQM–102,<br />

which is in accord with neither system.<br />
