Adoption <strong>Leave</strong> (N.Y. Lab. Law § 201-c)<br />

Covered Employers: All employers.<br />

Eligible Employees: All employees.<br />

<strong>Leave</strong> Provided: Employer that provides parental leave for the birth of a biological<br />

child must make the same amount of leave available <strong>to</strong> adopt a child<br />

who is preschool age or younger, or up <strong>to</strong> age 18, if the child is disabled.<br />

Temporary Disability Benefits (TDI)<br />

New York has a state temporary disability insurance program. Eligible<br />

employees who are unable <strong>to</strong> work due <strong>to</strong> a temporarily disability (including<br />

pregnancy) can receive up <strong>to</strong> 50% of their wages. For detailed information,<br />

go <strong>to</strong> the state website for workers’ compensation, www.wcb.state.ny.us.<br />

Select “Employers,” then “Disability Benefits Coverage.”
