• Both Windows and Macin<strong>to</strong>sh users can open a file directly by double<br />

clicking it. Use My Computer or Windows Explorer (Windows 2000,<br />

XP, or Vista) or the Finder (Macin<strong>to</strong>sh) <strong>to</strong> go <strong>to</strong> the folder you created<br />

and copied the CD-ROM’s files <strong>to</strong>. <strong>The</strong>n, double click the specific file<br />

you want <strong>to</strong> open.<br />

• You can also open a PDF file from within Adobe Reader. To do this,<br />

you must first start Reader. <strong>The</strong>n, go <strong>to</strong> the File menu and choose the<br />

Open command. This opens a dialog box where you will tell the program<br />

the location and name of the file (you will need <strong>to</strong> navigate through<br />

the direc<strong>to</strong>ry tree <strong>to</strong> get <strong>to</strong> the folder on your hard disk where the CD-<br />

ROM’s files have been installed).<br />

Where Are the PDF Files Installed?<br />

• Windows Users: PDF files are installed by default <strong>to</strong> a folder named<br />

\FMLA <strong>Guide</strong> Resources in the \Program Files folder of your computer.<br />

• Macin<strong>to</strong>sh Users: PDF files are located in the “PDF” folder within the<br />

“FMLA <strong>Guide</strong> Resources” folder.<br />

Step 2: Filling in a Form<br />

Use your mouse or the Tab key on your keyboard <strong>to</strong> navigate from field <strong>to</strong><br />

field within these forms.<br />

• If document rights are enabled, you can save your completed form <strong>to</strong><br />

disk using Adobe Reader 5.1 or higher.<br />

• If document rights are not enabled, be sure <strong>to</strong> have all the information<br />

you will need <strong>to</strong> complete a form on hand, because you will not be able<br />

<strong>to</strong> save a copy of the filled-in form <strong>to</strong> disk. You can, however, print out a<br />

completed version.<br />

NOTE: This step is applicable only <strong>to</strong> forms that have been created with fillin<br />

text fields. Forms without fill-in fields must be completed by hand or<br />

typewriter after you have printed them out.
