Multiply Adjusted Off ensive Battle Rating by Speed Fac<strong>to</strong>r<br />

A ’Mech’s Speed Fac<strong>to</strong>r refl ects its ability <strong>to</strong> maneuver on <strong>the</strong> battlefi<br />

eld. To fi nd <strong>the</strong> Speed Fac<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> a ’Mech, add <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r its Running<br />

MP and half its Jumping MP (rounded up). Add 1 <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> result if <strong>the</strong><br />

’Mech has MASC or triple-strength myomer (but not industrial triplestrength<br />

myomer). Then consult <strong>the</strong> Speed Fac<strong>to</strong>r Table (p. 315).<br />

Multiply <strong>the</strong> Adjusted Off ensive Battle Rating by <strong>the</strong> Speed Fac<strong>to</strong>r<br />

<strong>to</strong> give <strong>the</strong> fi nal Off ensive Battle Rating.<br />

STEP 3: CALCULATE FINAL BATTLE VALUE<br />

Calculate a ‘Mech’s fi nal BV adding its Defensive and Off ensive<br />

battle ratings. Round <strong>the</strong> remaining fraction <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> nearest whole<br />

number (round .5 up).<br />

This formula yields <strong>the</strong> Battle Value <strong>of</strong> a ’Mech piloted by a<br />

MechWarrior with <strong>the</strong> standard Gunnery 4 and Piloting 5 Skill<br />

levels. If <strong>the</strong> MechWarrior has higher or lower skill levels, multiply<br />

<strong>the</strong> BV by <strong>the</strong> appropriate skill level multiplier (see Constructing a<br />

Battle Force, p. 314).<br />

1. Calculate Base Weapon Battle Rating<br />

each) and 1 Small Laser (1 heat point), and has 10 single Heat Sinks.<br />

It cannot jump, and so its hottest movement mode is Running (2<br />

points <strong>of</strong> heat).<br />

Find <strong>the</strong> ’Mech Heat Effi ciency and <strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>tal heat generated by<br />

fi ring all weapons.<br />

’Mech Heat Effi ciency = 6 + 10 – 2 = 14<br />

Total Heat Generated = 3 + 3 + 3 + 1 = 10<br />

Because <strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>tal weapons heat is lower than <strong>the</strong> ’Mech Heat<br />

Effi ciency, <strong>the</strong>re is no need <strong>to</strong> adjust <strong>the</strong> BV <strong>of</strong> any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> weapons.<br />
