Informatics applications implemented<br />

The GRO serves citizens nationwide through the following informatics applications:<br />

o CIVIL REGISTER<br />

1. Capture and Certification of registrations online in the computerized MCR’s and digital<br />

books.<br />

2. Capture of Registrations from the non-computerized Registers (handwritten books).<br />

3. Procedure for cross-checking information coming from the birth, marriage, death, etc.,<br />

registrations, automatically generating the margin annotation of the birth registration into<br />

the database.<br />

4. Homologation of databases in the Civil Registers.5. Generation of vital statistics<br />

6. Building of every individual’s family tree<br />

7. Generation of a file or life page for every individual<br />

8. Issuance of registration certificates contained in the database<br />

9. Mechanisms to browse the Civil Register database<br />

10. Audit procedures to follow-up changes, input and modifications to registrations<br />

11. Production control<br />

12. Multimedia (digitizing of the images contained in the registration books)<br />

o NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM<br />

1. Digital capture of citizen data, fingerprints, photos and signature and forwarding by the<br />

Internet.<br />

2. Transcription of the of non-computerized Civil Registers<br />

3. Digitizing of fingerprints and photo captured by non-computerized Civil Registers<br />

4. Integration of biographical and demographic data, and images to be sent to AFIS, by the<br />

Internet.<br />

5. Comparison of fingerprints of those who request the issuance of the first Identity Card<br />

against those in the (AFIS) Advanced Finger Identification System database .<br />

6. Printing of the identity cards of new citizens and requests for replacement or renewal.<br />

7. Control of current users<br />

8. Control of applications for the issue of identity cards<br />

9. Control of identity cards issuance and rejection<br />
