and Slavic varieties such as Russian and local Polish/Belarusian dialects,
with Russian widespread both as Lh (both by Soviet-times settlers
and by Latgalian speakers) and as Ll (also by ancient dwellers, often Old
Believers), whilst the local dialects are spoken in non-formal situations in
Polish (i.e. Catholic) and Belarusian (Orthodox and Old Believers’) settlements
