9. Tile may contain post-consumer or post-industrial recycled content.<br />

B. Porcelain Tile:<br />

1. Furnish a polished and unpolished porcelain tile and trim with the color extending<br />

uniformly through the body <strong>of</strong> the tile.<br />

2. Criteria for tile to meet or exceed is as follows: Abrasive wear in accordance with<br />

ASTM C501 and bonding strength in accordance with ASTM C482.<br />

3. Comply with 36 CFR 1191 for coefficient <strong>of</strong> friction for interior tiled floors.<br />

2.02 UNGLAZED (UNPOLISHED) PORCELAIN PAVER TILE:<br />

A. Unglazed (unpolished) porcelain paver tile shall be standard grade conforming to<br />

ANSI A173.1.<br />

B. Containers shall be grade sealed.<br />

C. Seals shall be marked to correspond with the marks on the signed master grade certificate.<br />

D. Tile shall be impact resistant with a minimum breaking strength for wall tile <strong>of</strong> 250 pounds for<br />

floor tile in accordance with ASTM C648.<br />

E. Water absorption shall be 0.50 maximum percent in accordance with ASTM C373.<br />

F. Floor tile shall have a minimum coefficient <strong>of</strong> friction <strong>of</strong> 0.50 wet and dry in accordance with<br />

ASTM C1028.<br />

G. Floor tile shall be Class III-Medium Heavy durability classification as rated by the<br />

manufacturer when tested in accordance with ASTM C1027 for abrasion resistance as related<br />

to foot traffic.<br />

2.03 BASIS OF DESIGN:<br />

A. Basis <strong>of</strong> design for texture, color and pattern is as follows:<br />

1. Unpolished Porcelain Paver Tile:<br />

a. Daltile Corporation.<br />

b. Pattern/Style: Diamante.<br />

c. Finish: Unpolished.<br />

d. Size: 18 by 18 inches.<br />

e. Cushioned edges.<br />

f. Grout Joint Width: 1/4 inch.<br />

g. Grout: Kerapoxy with Bioblock.<br />

2. Or equals with prior approval.<br />

2.04 WATER:<br />

A. Provide potable water.<br />

2.05 MORTAR, GROUT, AND ADHESIVE:<br />

A. Interior adhesives, sealants, primers and sealants used as filler must meet the requirements <strong>of</strong><br />

LEED low emitting materials credit.<br />

B. Conform to SCAQMD Rule 1168 and Bay Area AQMD Rule 8-51, and to the following for<br />

mortar, grout, adhesive, and sealant:<br />

1. Dry-Set Portland Cement Mortar: TCA Hdbk.<br />

2. Grout: TCA Hdbk:<br />

a. Petroleum-free and plastic free commercial Portland cement grout.<br />

b. Maximum VOC content <strong>of</strong> 150 grams/liter.<br />
