SECTION 334100 - STORM UTILITY DRAINAGE PIPING: continued<br />

B. High Density Polyethylene Pipe and Fittings:<br />

1. All polyethylene pipe shall have a corrugated outer wall and an integrally formed smooth<br />

interior, and shall meet AASHTO M294 and DelDOT <strong>Specifications</strong> for Type "S" high<br />

density polyethylene pipe.<br />

2. Pipes, couplings, and fittings shall be meet the requirements <strong>of</strong> AASHTO M294,<br />

modified as follows: Minimum pipe stiffness shall be 35 psi at 5% deflection and 30 psi<br />

at 10% deflection, when tested in accordance with ASTM D2412.<br />

3. Pipe shall have an integral built-in bell and factory-installed gasket. Joints for all<br />

polyethylene pipe greater than 12 inches in diameter shall be watertight in accordance<br />

with ASTM 1417.<br />

C. Reinforced Concrete Pipe:<br />

1. Reinforced Concrete Pipe shall conform to the requirements <strong>of</strong> Section 612 <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Standard <strong>Specifications</strong>. All Reinforced Concrete Pipe shall conform to ASTM C76,<br />

Class III or IV.<br />

2. Joint design for round reinforced concrete pipe and fittings shall conform to<br />

AASHTO C443. Conic surface <strong>of</strong> spigot or tongue shall be designed to properly contain<br />

and seat the gasket, or gasket shall be designed so that it is properly contained and seated<br />

on conic surface <strong>of</strong> spigot or tongue.<br />

3. Joint Material shall be flexible rubber gaskets, meeting the criteria <strong>of</strong> ASTM C443. Joint<br />

material primer or adhesive shall be as provided or specified by pipe manufacturer.<br />

D. Ductile Iron Pipe and Fittings:<br />

1. Shall conform to AWWA C-151, and shall be manufactured in 18 or 20-foot nominal<br />

lengths.<br />

2. Use push-on joints, conforming to AWWA C-151 and AWWA C-111, except where<br />

mechanical joints are indicated on the plans.<br />

PART 3 - EXECUTION<br />

3.01 MATERIAL INSPECTION:<br />

A. The following information shall be clearly marked on each pipe section <strong>of</strong> PVC pipe:<br />

1. Pipe type and SDR number.<br />

2. Nominal pipe size.<br />

3. The PVC cell classification.<br />

4. Name or trademark <strong>of</strong> manufacturer.<br />

5. The ASTM Specification designation.<br />

B. PVC Fittings shall have the following markings:<br />

1. The ASTM Specification designation.<br />

2. Manufacturer's name or trademark.<br />

3. Nominal size.<br />

4. The material designation.<br />

C. Polyethylene pipe shall be marked with the pipe class, date <strong>of</strong> manufacture, and the name or<br />

trademark <strong>of</strong> the manufacturer.<br />

D. The following information shall be clearly marked on each section <strong>of</strong> reinforced concrete pipe:<br />

1. Specification designation (ASTM).<br />

2. Pipe class or strength designation.<br />

3. Date <strong>of</strong> manufacture.<br />

4. Name or trademark <strong>of</strong> manufacturer.<br />

5. For reinforced pipe with elliptical or quadrant reinforcement the letter E or Q,<br />

respectively.<br />
