4. Application tooling designed to crimp the wire barrel (conductor grip) with a one-step<br />

crimp.<br />

E. Power Connectors (sizes 2 AWG - 500 kcmil) 600V and Below:<br />

1. Non-insulated, one-hole rectangular tongue for sizes 2 AWG through 3/0 AWG and<br />

two-hole rectangular tongue for 4/0 AWG through 500 kcmil.<br />

2. Application tooling shall be hydraulic operated.<br />

F. Power Connectors (sizes 2 AWG - 500 kcmil) above 600V:<br />

1. Non-insulated, one-hole rectangular tongue for sizes 2 AWG through 3/0 AWG and<br />

two-hole rectangular tongue for 4/0 AWG through 500 kcmil.<br />

2. Voltage rating equal or greater than that <strong>of</strong> the cable being used.<br />

3. Application tooling shall be hydraulic operated.<br />

G. Motor Lead Termination/Splice (Low-Voltage, 600V and Below, Power Cable):<br />

1. Splices shall be made using compression-type connectors bolted together. The<br />

compression-type connectors shall be properly sized for the cables. Reference acceptable<br />

connector manufacturer's cross-reference chart.<br />

2. Splice to be covered with heat-shrinkable tubing connector insulators.<br />

3. Splicing shall be done in accordance with the instructions provided with the Raychem<br />

brand MCK Motor Connector Kit.<br />

H. Terminal Blocks:<br />

1. For Mounting in Terminal Boxes (TBs):<br />

a. Designed and sized for the cables being terminated.<br />

b. Thermoplastic block rated 600V.<br />

c. Solderless box lug type terminals for power cables and flat terminal connectors with<br />

wire clamp for control and instrument cables.<br />

d. Rated current carrying capacity equal to or greater than the cable being terminated.<br />

e. Marking strip.<br />

2. For Mounting in Cabinets, Panels, Control Boards, etc.:<br />

a. Designed and sized for the cables being terminated.<br />

b. Thermoplastic block rated 600V.<br />

c. Solderless box lug type terminals for power cables. Flat terminal connectors for<br />

current transformer circuits. Sliding link type flat terminal connectors with wire<br />

clamp for control and instrument cables.<br />

d. Rated current carrying capacity equal to or greater than the cable being terminated.<br />

e. Marking strip on blocks for power cables, control and instrument cables.<br />

f. Short-circuit straps with one shorting screw for each terminal for current<br />

transformer circuits.<br />

PART 3 - EXECUTION<br />

3.01 INSPECTION:<br />

A. Inspect area and conditions under which electrical connections for Equipment are to be<br />

installed. If unsatisfactory conditions exist, do not proceed with the work until they have been<br />

corrected.<br />

3.02 INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS:<br />

A. Install electrical connections as indicated, as required, and as specified. Provide in accordance<br />

with Equipment manufacturer's written instructions and with recognized industry practices, and<br />

complying with applicable requirements <strong>of</strong> UL and NEC to ensure that products fulfill<br />

requirements.<br />
