SECTION 312500 - EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROLS: continued<br />

F. Riprap: The stones shall be <strong>of</strong> durable rock, sized and graded so that at least 50% <strong>of</strong> the pieces<br />

are larger than the d50 size shown on the Plans. The diameter <strong>of</strong> the largest stone shall not<br />

exceed 1.5 times the d50 size, nor shall the smallest stone be smaller than one-half the<br />

d50 size. All stone shall meet the requirements <strong>of</strong> Section 712 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Delaware</strong> Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Transportation Standard <strong>Specifications</strong>. Filter cloth shall be a non-woven geotextile<br />

conforming to ASTM D1777 or ASTM D1682.<br />

PART 3 - EXECUTION<br />

3.01 CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS:<br />

A. Vegetative stabilization shall be used on graded or cleared areas, which are subject to erosion<br />

for a period <strong>of</strong> 14 days or more.<br />

B. All temporary erosion control measures shall be installed in accordance with the <strong>Delaware</strong><br />

Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook.<br />

C. Erosion control matting shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's written<br />

instructions, the requirements <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Delaware</strong> Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook, and<br />

the details on the Plans.<br />

D. In the event <strong>of</strong> conflict between these requirements and pollution control laws, rules, or<br />

regulations <strong>of</strong> other federal or state agencies, the more restrictive laws, rules, or regulations<br />

shall apply.<br />

E. The Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining all soil erosion and sediment control<br />

measures in an acceptable and functional manner. The Contractor shall remove all temporary<br />

measures after all other construction is complete, final restorations installed, and all disturbed<br />

areas have been adequately stabilized.<br />
