SECTION 260536 - CABLE TRAY<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.01 SUMMARY:<br />

A. This Section specifies cable tray.<br />

B. Types <strong>of</strong> cable tray specified in this Section include the following:<br />

1. Basket type.<br />

2. Tubular style cable runway.<br />

C. Related Work Specified Elsewhere:<br />

1. For Supporting Devices and Seals see SECTION 260529.<br />

2. For Electrical Identification see SECTION 260553.<br />

3. For grounding see SECTION 260526.<br />

1.02 REFERENCES:<br />

A. Applicable Standards: Comply with applicable requirements <strong>of</strong> the following standards:<br />

1. American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM):<br />

a. 525 - Steel sheet, zinc-coated (galvanized) by the Hot-Dip Process, General<br />

Requirements, <strong>Specifications</strong> for.<br />

2. National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA):<br />

a. VE1 - Metallic Cable Tray Systems.<br />

3. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA):<br />

a. 70 - National Electrical Code (NEC).<br />

4. Underwriters Laboratories (UL): Require products which are UL-listed and labeled.<br />

1.03 SUBMITTALS:<br />

A. Refer to DIVISION 01, SECTION 260000 - BASIC ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS for<br />

administrative and procedural requirements for submittals.<br />

B. Includes, but not limited to, the following:<br />

1. Product Data: Manufacturer's data on cable tray including dimensions, features,<br />

strengths, and weights <strong>of</strong> all cable tray sections, fittings, and supports.<br />

PART 2 - PRODUCTS<br />

2.01 GENERAL:<br />

A. Cable tray interior shall be continuously smooth with no sharp corners or burrs. Where cable<br />

tray systems are used as the equipment grounding conductor, the cable tray sections and<br />

fittings shall be approved for the purpose, labeled with the minimum cross sectional area, and<br />

in compliance with NEC minimum cross sectional area requirements. Provide tray covers<br />

where tray runs under openings, stairs, and open grating. When covers are required outdoors,<br />

provide peaked covers for snow loading.<br />

B. Wire Basket Sections and Components:<br />

1. General: Provide wire basket <strong>of</strong> types and sizes indicated; with connector assemblies,<br />

tool less clips, connector plates, splice plates and splice bars. Construct units with<br />

rounded edges and smooth surfaces; in compliance with applicable standards; and with<br />

the following additional construction features.<br />
