D. Qualifications <strong>of</strong> Ground Heat Exchanger Installers:<br />

1. Submit documentation substantiating the following qualifications:<br />

a. Installers shall have completed an approved manufacturer's certification program.<br />

b. In documentation, submit licensing requirements as regulated by local and state<br />

regulations for well drillers.<br />

2. Submit for each well driller, the Well Driller license.<br />

3. Certification and licenses for each well driller shall be in the state where the work occurs.<br />

4. All required certification and licenses shall be kept current.<br />

5. Out-<strong>of</strong>-date licenses and certification will not be accepted.<br />

6. Submit to contracting <strong>of</strong>ficer for approval the licenses and certification.<br />

1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING:<br />

A. Materials delivered and placed in storage shall be stored with protection from the weather,<br />

excessive humidity variation, excessive temperature variation, dirt, dust and/or other<br />

contaminants.<br />

B. Proper protection and care <strong>of</strong> material before, during and after installation is the Contractor's<br />

responsibility.<br />

C. Any material found to be damaged shall be replaced at the Contractor's expense.<br />

D. During installation, piping shall be capped to keep out dirt and other foreign matter.<br />

E. A material safety data sheet in conformance with 29 CFR 1910 Section 1200(g) shall<br />

accompany each chemical delivered for use in pipe installation:<br />

1. At a minimum, this includes all solvents, solvent cements, glues and other materials that<br />

may contain hazardous compounds.<br />

F. Handling shall be in accordance with ASTM F402.<br />

G. Storage facilities shall be classified and marked in accordance with NFPA 704:<br />

1. Materials shall be stored with protection from puncture, dirt, grease, moisture,<br />

mechanical abrasions, excessive heat, ultraviolet (UV) radiation damage or other damage.<br />

2. Pipe and fittings shall be handled and stored in accordance with the manufacturer's<br />

recommendation.<br />

H. Plastic pipe shall be packed, packaged and marked in accordance with ASTM D3892.<br />

I. Upon delivery <strong>of</strong> piping, fitting, components, and equipment to the site, inspect items for<br />

damage and verify items meet project requirements.<br />

1.07 PROJECT/SITE CONDITIONS:<br />

A. Verification <strong>of</strong> Dimensions:<br />

1. The Contractor shall become familiar with all details <strong>of</strong> the work, verify all dimensions<br />

indicated in the field and advise the Contracting Officer <strong>of</strong> any discrepancy before<br />

performing any work.<br />

B. Drawings:<br />

1. Because <strong>of</strong> the small scale <strong>of</strong> the drawings, it is not possible to indicate all <strong>of</strong>fsets,<br />

fittings, and accessories that may be required.<br />

2. The Contractor shall carefully investigate the plumbing, fire protection, electrical,<br />

structural and finish conditions that would affect the work to be performed and shall<br />

arrange such work accordingly, furnishing required <strong>of</strong>fsets, fittings, and accessories to<br />

meet such conditions.<br />

C. Accessibility:<br />

1. Install all work so that parts requiring periodic inspection, operation, maintenance, and<br />

repair are readily accessible.<br />
