SECTION 333100 - SANITARY UTILITY SEWERAGE PIPING<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.01 DESCRIPTION:<br />

A. Furnish and install polyvinyl chloride (PVC) gravity sewer pipe and appurtenances as shown<br />

on the Plans and described herein.<br />

B. Furnish and install ductile iron gravity sewer pipe and appurtenance as shown on the Plans and<br />

described herein.<br />

C. Coordinate with the Sussex County to determine the scope <strong>of</strong> services and required inspections<br />

formed by Sussex County.<br />

1.02 STANDARDS:<br />

A. American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).<br />

1. ASTM D2241 - Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pressure-Rated Pipe.<br />

2. ASTM D3212 - Joints for Drain and Sewer Plastic Pipes Using Flexible Elastomeric<br />

Seals.<br />

3. ASTM 1785 - Schedule 40 Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pipe.<br />

B. Sussex County.<br />

1.03 PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING:<br />

A. Storage and Materials:<br />

1. Store materials to prevent physical damage.<br />

2. Store pipe and fittings <strong>of</strong>f <strong>of</strong> the ground to prevent dirt and debris from entering.<br />

3. Store flexible gasket materials and joint primer or adhesive compounds in cool dry place.<br />

Keep rubber gaskets clean, away from oil, grease, excessive heat, and out <strong>of</strong> direct<br />

sunlight.<br />

B. Handling <strong>of</strong> Materials:<br />

1. Protect materials during transportation and installation to avoid physical damage.<br />

2. Do not install out-<strong>of</strong>-round pipe.<br />

3. Unload pipe to prevent abrasion.<br />

4. Do not drag or push pipe while handling or distributing on project site.<br />

PART 2 - PRODUCTS<br />

2.01 MATERIALS:<br />

A. PVC Pipe and Fittings:<br />

1. ASTM D3034; SDR 26.<br />

2. ASTM 1785, Schedule 40.<br />

3. Joint material: Elastomeric ring rubber gasket, ASTM D3212.<br />

4. Joint material Primer/Adhesive: As provided or specified by pipe manufacturer.<br />

B. Ductile Iron Pipe and Fittings:<br />

1. Shall conform to AWWA C-151, and shall be manufactured in 18 or 20-foot nominal<br />

lengths.<br />

2. Use push-on joints, conforming to AWWA C-151 and AWWA C-111, except where<br />

mechanical joints are indicated on the plans.<br />
