SECTION 265200 - EMERGENCY LIGHTING<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.01 SUMMARY:<br />

A. This Section specifies emergency lighting as indicated by drawings and schedules.<br />

B. Types <strong>of</strong> self-contained emergency lighting fixtures in this Section include the following:<br />

1. Unitized battery powered fixtures.<br />

2. Illuminated exit sign fixtures.<br />

3. Emergency fluorescent lamp power supply.<br />

1.02 REFERENCES:<br />

A. Applicable Standards: Comply with applicable requirements <strong>of</strong> the following standards.<br />

1. National Electrical Manufacturers' Association (NEMA):<br />

a. 1B 4 - Determination <strong>of</strong> Amperhour and Watthour Capacity <strong>of</strong> Lead-Acid Industrial<br />

Storage Batteries for Stationary Service.<br />

b. 1B 5 - Life Testing <strong>of</strong> Lead-Acid Industrial Storage Batteries for Stationary Service.<br />

c. 1B 7 - Testing Arrester Vents Used on Lead-Acid Industrial Storage Batteries for<br />

Stationary Service.<br />

d. LE 1 - Fluorescent Luminaires.<br />

2. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA):<br />

a. 70 - National Electrical Code (NEC).<br />

b. 101 - Life Safety Code.<br />

3. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Compliance: Provide emergency lighting fixtures which<br />

are UL-listed and labeled.<br />

a. 57 - Electric Lighting Fixtures.<br />

b. 924 - Emergency Lighting and Power Equipment<br />

c. 1570 - Fluorescent Lighting Fixtures.<br />

d. 1571 - Incandescent Lighting Fixtures.<br />

1.03 SUBMITTALS:<br />

A. Refer to DIVISION 01 and SECTION 260000 - BASIC ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS for<br />

administrative and procedural requirements for submittals.<br />

B. Includes, but not limited to, the following:<br />

1. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's technical product data on emergency lighting<br />

fixtures. Provide scaled candlepower distribution curves for light fixtures.<br />

2. Shop Drawings: Submit fixture shop drawings in booklet form with separate sheet for<br />

each fixture, assembled in luminaire "type" alphabetical or numerical order, with<br />

proposed fixture and accessories clearly indicated on each sheet.<br />

3. Maintenance Data: Submit maintenance data and parts list for each emergency lighting<br />

fixture and accessory, including "troubleshooting" maintenance guide. Include this data,<br />

product data and shop drawings in maintenance manual, in accordance with requirements<br />

<strong>of</strong> DIVISION 01.<br />

1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING:<br />

A. Handle lighting fixtures carefully to prevent damage, breaking, and scoring. Do not install<br />

damaged fixtures or components; replace with new.<br />

B. Store lighting fixtures in clean dry place. Protect from weather, dirt, fumes, water,<br />

construction debris, and physical damage.<br />
