SECTION 265610 - EXTERIOR LIGHTING FIXTURES: continued<br />

A. Examine areas and conditions under which lighting fixtures are to be installed and the substrate<br />

which will support lighting fixtures. Do not proceed with the Work until unsatisfactory<br />

conditions have been corrected.<br />

3.02 INSTALLATION OF EXTERIOR LIGHTING FIXTURES:<br />

A. Install exterior lighting fixtures at locations and heights as indicated, in accordance with fixture<br />

manufacturer's written instructions, applicable requirements <strong>of</strong> NEC, NECA's "Standard <strong>of</strong><br />

Installation," NEMA standards, and with recognized industry practices to ensure that lighting<br />

fixtures fulfill requirements.<br />

B. Tighten connectors and terminals, including screws and bolts, in accordance with equipment<br />

manufacturer's published torque tightening values for equipment connectors. Where<br />

manufacturer's torquing requirements are not indicated, tighten connectors and terminals to<br />

comply with tightening torques specified in UL 486A and the National Electrical Code.<br />

C. Fasten electrical lighting fixtures and brackets securely to structural supports, including<br />

poles/standards; ensure that installed fixtures are plumb and level.<br />

D. All exterior lighting shall be demonstrated during night time tests.<br />

E. All light fixtures which can be aimed (floodlights, etc.) shall be aimed as indicated and shall be<br />

re-aimed as directed by Contracting Officer during night time lighting demonstrations.<br />

Redemonstrate lighting at night after all adjustments have been made.<br />

F. All conduit entering building shall be sealed to prevent water and/or insects entering building<br />

from light fixtures.<br />

3.03 GROUNDING:<br />

A. Provide equipment grounding connections for exterior lighting fixtures as indicated. Tighten<br />

connections to comply with tightening torques specified in UL 486A to assure permanent and<br />

effective grounds.<br />

3.04 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL:<br />

A. At the Date <strong>of</strong> Substantial Completion, replace lamps in exterior lighting fixtures which are<br />

observed to be noticeably dimmed after Contractor's use and testing, as judged by Contracting<br />

Officer.<br />

B. Refer to DIVISION 01 Sections for the replacement/restoration <strong>of</strong> lamps in exterior lighting<br />

fixtures where used for temporary lighting prior to Date <strong>of</strong> Substantial Completion.<br />

3.05 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING:<br />

A. Aim adjustable lighting fixtures and lamps in night test <strong>of</strong> system. Verify that measured<br />

illuminance values comply with submitted isolux plot diagram values.<br />

B. Clean lighting fixtures <strong>of</strong> dirt and debris upon completion <strong>of</strong> installation.<br />

C. Protect installed fixtures from damage during construction period.<br />

D. Photoelectric Controls:<br />

1. Aim "north."<br />

2. Adjust to actuate "on" at 3.0 footcandles.<br />

3. Provide FAA listed photoelectric controls for control <strong>of</strong> aviation obstruction lighting.<br />
