SECTION 232114 - OUTDOOR GEOTHERMAL PIPING: continued<br />

e. The annular space between pipe and sleeve shall be sealed in accordance with<br />

SECTION 079200 - JOINT SEALANTS.<br />

2. Sleeves in Masonry and Concrete:<br />

a. Provide steel standard weight or PVC standard weight pipe sleeves.<br />

b. Pipes passing through concrete floors shall be provided with pipe sleeves fitted into<br />

place at the time <strong>of</strong> construction.<br />

2.03 BENTONITE GROUT:<br />

A. Provide bentonite grout mixture for pressure grouting and sealing the bore hole <strong>of</strong> the vertical<br />

well.<br />

1. Provide grouting <strong>of</strong> wells in accordance with IGSHPA 21015.<br />

2. The grout selected shall meet ANSI/NSF Standard 60.<br />

3. The grout shall meet all local and state rules and regulations.<br />

4. The bentonite will be a slurry that will be tremie grouted from the bottom <strong>of</strong> the boring to<br />

the surface in accordance with the IGSHPA installation manual.<br />

5. The contractor will work quickly to assure that there are no air voids forming as a result<br />

<strong>of</strong> the bentonite placing.<br />

B. Cementitious Thermally Enhanced Grout:<br />

1. Provide cementitious thermally enhanced grout mixture:<br />

a. The cementitious thermally enhanced grout mixture shall be a high solids sodium<br />

bentonite grout with Portland cement, potable water, silica sand compound, and a<br />

super plasticizer compound.<br />

b. The grout shall be mixed per the manufacturer instructions.<br />

c. Potable water shall be used for mixing the grout.<br />

d. The thermal conductivity <strong>of</strong> the grout mixture compound shall be a minimum <strong>of</strong><br />

1.4 Btu/hr-ft-F or greater.<br />

e. The target grout weight shall be 16 pounds/gallon.<br />

PART 3 - EXECUTION<br />

3.01 INSTALLATION:<br />

A. As-Built Drawings:<br />

1. As-Built Drawings <strong>of</strong> the installed systems: As-Built Drawings shall also show and<br />

document the as-constructed locations <strong>of</strong> the well field with dimensions, including all<br />

wells and loop fields.<br />

3.02 ABOVEGROUND PIPING:<br />

A. Provide above ground piping as specified in SECTION 232113 - HYDRONIC PIPING.<br />

3.03 EARTHWORK:<br />

A. Earthwork shall be performed in accordance with applicable provisions <strong>of</strong> SECTION 312000 -<br />

EARTHMOVING, except that bentonite and thermally enhanced grouts shall be used where<br />

indicated.<br />

3.04 GROUND HEAT EXCHANGER PIPING:<br />

A. Examine areas and conditions under which ground heat exchanger systems will be installed:<br />

1. Prior to excavation, trenching, or drilling, locate and mark buried utilities.<br />

2. Do not proceed with work until approved by the Contracting Officer.<br />

3. Sharp bends and mitered joints shall not be used in piping.<br />
