DIVISION 33 - UTIILITIES<br />

SECTION 331100 - WATER UTILITY DISTRIBUTION PIPING<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.01 DESCRIPTION:<br />

A. Furnish and install ductile iron water pipe, fittings, and appurtenances as shown on the Plans<br />

and described herein.<br />

B. Furnish and install PVC water pipe, fittings, and appurtenances as shown on the Plans and<br />

described herein.<br />

C. All water mains, fittings, taps, valves, and fire hydrants shall be supplied, installed, disinfected,<br />

and tested in accordance with the requirements <strong>of</strong> the Sussex Shores Water Company, and the<br />

<strong>Delaware</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Health.<br />

D. Furnish and install copper water tubing for service connections under three-inches in diameter.<br />

E. Coordinate with the Sussex Shores Water Company for service connections and to determine<br />

the scope <strong>of</strong> services to be performed by the Sussex Shores Water Company.<br />

F. Related work specified elsewhere includes:<br />

A. Sussex Shores Water Company Standards and <strong>Specifications</strong>.<br />

B. American Water Works Association:<br />

1. AWWA C900.<br />

2. AWWA C151.<br />

3. AWWA C104.<br />

4. AWWA C110.<br />

5. AWWA C111.<br />

1.03 SUBMITTALS:<br />

A. All pipe and fittings shall be inspected and tested at place <strong>of</strong> manufacture as required by the<br />

AWWA standards referenced in the Specification. Provide the Engineer with two copies <strong>of</strong><br />

certifications from each manufacturer stating the product was inspected as required, and that<br />

the test results comply with AWWA standards.<br />

B. Submit manufacturers' product data for pipe, fittings, and gaskets.<br />

C. All manufacturers shall validate other than by certification, the ductility <strong>of</strong> each length <strong>of</strong> pipe<br />

by an Underwriters Laboratory approved method. All PVC pipe is to have Underwriters<br />

Laboratory approval.<br />

PART 2 - PRODUCTS<br />

2.01 MATERIALS:<br />

A. Polyvinyl Chloride Pipe:<br />

1. Water mains shall conform to AWWA C900, Class 150.<br />

2. PVC services shall conform to ASTM 2241 for SDR 21, unless otherwise approved by<br />

the Water Company or Engineer.<br />

B. Joints for PVC Pipe: Integral-bell push-on joints except where mechanical joints are necessary<br />

to change pipe material.<br />
