SECTION 233700 - AIR TERMINAL UNITS<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.01 SUMMARY:<br />

A. This Section includes the following:<br />

1. Single-duct air terminal units.<br />

1.02 REFERENCES:<br />

A. Applicable Standards:<br />

1. Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI):<br />

a. 880 - Air Terminals.<br />

2. American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM):<br />

a. C1071 - Thermal and Acoustical Insulation (Glass Fiber, Duct Lining Material).<br />

3. National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA):<br />

a. 250 - Enclosures for Electrical Equipment (1,000V Maximum).<br />

4. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA):<br />

a. 70 - National Electrical Code.<br />

b. 90A - Standard for the Installation <strong>of</strong> Air Conditioning and Ventilating Systems.<br />

5. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL):<br />

a. 486A - Wire Connectors and Soldering Lugs for Use with Copper Conductors.<br />

b. 486B - Wire Connectors for Use with Aluminum Conductors.<br />

1.03 SUBMITTALS:<br />

A. General: Submit the following in accordance with SECTION 230500 - BASIC<br />

MECHANICAL MATERIALS AND METHODS.<br />

B. Product Data: For each type <strong>of</strong> product indicated, include rated capacities, furnished<br />

specialties, sound-power ratings, and accessories.<br />

C. LEED ® Submittal:<br />

1. Product Data for Prerequisite EQ1: Documentation indicating that units comply with<br />

ASHRAE 62.1-2004, Section 5 - "Systems and Equipment."<br />

D. Shop Drawings: Detail equipment assemblies and indicate dimensions, required clearances,<br />

method <strong>of</strong> field assembly, components, and location and size <strong>of</strong> each field connection.<br />

1. Include a schedule showing unique model designation, room location, model number,<br />

size, and accessories furnished.<br />

2. Wiring Diagrams: Power, signal, and control wiring.<br />

3. Hangers and supports, including methods for duct and building attachment, seismic<br />

restraints, and vibration isolation.<br />

E. Operation and Maintenance Data: For air terminal units to include in emergency, operation,<br />

and maintenance manuals. In addition to requirements <strong>of</strong> SECTION 230500, include the<br />

following:<br />

1. Instructions for resetting minimum and maximum air volumes.<br />

2. Instructions for adjusting s<strong>of</strong>tware set points.<br />

1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE:<br />

A. Product Options: Drawings indicate size, pr<strong>of</strong>iles, and dimensional requirements <strong>of</strong> air<br />

terminal units and are based on the specific system indicated. Refer to DIVISION 01.<br />

B. Electrical Components, Devices, and Accessories: Listed and labeled as defined in NFPA 70,<br />

Article 100, by a testing agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction, and marked for<br />

intended use.<br />

C. NFPA Compliance: Install air terminal units according to NFPA 90A.<br />
