4. Vibration-control devices.<br />

5. Factory-insulated access panels and doors.<br />

6. Exhaust ducts connected to exhaust fans EF-1 and EF-2.<br />

3.15 INDOOR DUCT AND PLENUM INSULATION SCHEDULE:<br />

A. Round and flat-oval, air duct insulation shall be any <strong>of</strong> the following:<br />

1. Flexible Elastomeric: 1 inch thick.<br />

2. Mineral-Fiber Blanket: 1-1/2 inches thick and 0.75-lb/cu. ft. nominal density.<br />

B. Rectangular, air duct insulation shall be any <strong>of</strong> the following:<br />

1. Flexible Elastomeric: 1 inch thick.<br />

2. Mineral-Fiber Blanket: 1-1/2 inches thick and 0.75-lb/cu. ft. nominal density.<br />

3. Mineral-Fiber Board: 1-1/2 inches thick and 2-lb/cu. ft. nominal density.<br />

C. Supply-air and return-air plenum insulation shall be any <strong>of</strong> the following:<br />

1. Flexible Elastomeric: 1 inch thick.<br />

2. Mineral-Fiber Blanket: 1-1/2 inches thick and 0.75-lb/cu. ft. nominal density.<br />

3. Mineral-Fiber Board: 1-1/2 inches thick and 2-lb/cu. ft. nominal density.<br />

3.16 EQUIPMENT INSULATION SCHEDULE:<br />

A. Insulation materials and thicknesses are identified below. If more than one material is listed<br />

for a type <strong>of</strong> equipment, selection from materials listed is Contractor's option.<br />

B. Insulate indoor and outdoor equipment in paragraphs below that is not factory insulated.<br />

C. Geothermal-water air-separator and expansion tank insulation shall be any <strong>of</strong> the following:<br />

1. Mineral-Fiber Board: 2 inches thick and 3-lb/cu. ft. nominal density.<br />

2. Mineral-Fiber Pipe and Tank: 2 inches thick.<br />

3.17 PIPING INSULATION SCHEDULE, GENERAL:<br />

A. Acceptable preformed pipe and tubular insulation materials and thicknesses are identified for<br />

each piping system and pipe size range. If more than one material is listed for a piping system,<br />

selection from materials listed is Contractor's option.<br />

B. Items Not Insulated: Unless otherwise indicated, do not install insulation on the following:<br />

1. Fire-suppression piping.<br />

2. Below-grade piping.<br />

3.18 INDOOR PIPING INSULATION SCHEDULE:<br />

A. Domestic Cold Water:<br />

1. All Sizes: Insulation shall be any <strong>of</strong> the following:<br />

a. Flexible Elastomeric: 1/2 inch thick.<br />

b. Mineral-Fiber Pipe Insulation, Type I: 1/2 inch thick.<br />

B. Exposed Sanitary Drains, Domestic Water, Domestic Hot Water, and Stops for Plumbing<br />

Fixtures for People with Disabilities:<br />

1. All Pipe Sizes: Insulation shall be any <strong>of</strong> the following:<br />

a. Flexible Elastomeric: 1/2 inch thick.<br />

b. Mineral-Fiber Pipe Insulation, Type I: 1/2 inch thick.<br />
