D. Shop drawing shall be prepared and signed by a Fire Protection Engineer meeting the<br />

following qualifications:<br />

1. Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science or Master <strong>of</strong> Science degree in fire protection engineering from an<br />

accredited university, plus a minimum <strong>of</strong> 5 years' work experience in fire protection<br />

engineering.<br />

2. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Engineer (PE) registration by examination, National Council <strong>of</strong> Examiners<br />

for Engineering and Surveys (NCEE) fire protection engineering written examination.<br />

3. Qualification as a GS/GM 804-series FPE.<br />

4. PE registration in a related discipline with a minimum <strong>of</strong> 5 years' work experience in fire<br />

protection engineering.<br />

1.05 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING:<br />

A. Handle fire alarm equipment carefully to prevent damage, breaking, and scoring. Do not<br />

install damaged equipment or components; replace with new. Fire alarm cabling that has been<br />

walked on shall not be installed.<br />

B. Store fire alarm equipment in a clean, dry place. Protect from weather, dirt, fumes, water,<br />

construction debris, and physical damage.<br />

PART 2 - PRODUCTS<br />

2.01 ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT COMPLIANCE:<br />

A. Contractor warrants that all equipment, devices, items, systems, s<strong>of</strong>tware, hardware, and<br />

firmware provided shall properly, appropriately, and consistently function and accurately<br />

process date and time data (including without limitation: calculating, comparing, and<br />

sequencing). This warranty supersedes anything in the <strong>Specifications</strong> or other Contract<br />

Documents which might be construed inconsistently. This warranty is applicable whether the<br />

equipment, device, item, system, s<strong>of</strong>tware, hardware, or firmware is specified with or without<br />

reference to a manufacturer's name, make, or model number.<br />

2.02 FIRE ALARM DETECTION SYSTEMS AND MASS NOTIFICATION SYSTEMS:<br />

A. General: Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) shall comply with USNGB TAB D. Provide<br />

complete fire alarm system products <strong>of</strong> types, sizes, and capacities indicated, which comply<br />

with manufacturer's standard design, materials and components; constructed in accordance<br />

with published product information and as required for complete installation. Provide fire<br />

alarm and detection systems for applications indicated. All components shall be UL and<br />

FM listed. Provide nameplate in accordance with NEC 409.110 where the minimum shortcircuit<br />

rating (SCCR) shall be as indicated on the drawings.<br />

B. MASS Notification System shall meet the requirements <strong>of</strong> UFC 4-021-01. MNS shall be<br />

installed per NFPA 72 as a Class A system. The sound power levels shall be in accordance<br />

with NFPA 72 and the system shall have an intelligibility <strong>of</strong> 0.8.<br />

C. Combination, Zoned, Noncoded: Either manual activation <strong>of</strong> fire alarm pull station or<br />

activation <strong>of</strong> automatic initiating device will energize fire alarm signaling devices, sound<br />

noncoded alarm, and provide zone identification on annunciator panel.<br />

1. Provide pulse audible signals at march-time beat <strong>of</strong> approximately 120 pulses per minute.<br />

D. System Wiring and Supervision:<br />

1. Provide Class A, initiating circuits with electrical supervision for shorts and open<br />

conditions. Provide Class A, Signaling Line Circuit and Notification Appliance Circuits<br />

with electrical supervision for shorts and open conditions. Install circuit "end-<strong>of</strong>-line"<br />

diodes and resistors in fire alarm control cabinet. All fire alarm wiring shall be routed in<br />
