Proceedings of the 12th Annual Conference © 2011 IAABD Discussion of Findings Table 1 reveals that the age range 95% of the respondents fell between 25-45 years, with 89.2% of them indicating more than a year in managerial positions in their various organizations. 70.3 % of them were married, while 93.2% of them had at least a child in their marriages. Over 90% of them had a minimum of first degree (HND/B,Sc) in Management and Allied disciplines. The reactions of the interviewed women managers on the issues of training, mentoring and family responsibilities are shown in table 2a & b respectively. A significant number of the women (almost 70%) were not sponsored by their organizations for on-the-job trainings because they (i.e, the women) perceived some organizational discrimination against them because of their sex. Almost 60% of them claimed that their promotions had not been regular, while 66.25% of them asserted that they had no mentors to guide them in the industry. Over half of the women managers expressed themselves of being be-laboured with various tasks in the home front, which in turn had adversely affected their performance in the workplace. Table 3 reveals the opinion of the male respondents. “Family issues” ranked highest on the list of barriers (48%), followed by the low level of aspirations for managerial positions exhibited by the women. Little or lack of mentoring was identified by seven (7) male respondents, while leadership behaviour, organizational discrimination and lack of opportunities for training and development of women at five (5), two (2) and two (2) votes, respectively. Seventy percent (70%) of the interviewed women managers claimed not to have low aspiration for managerial positions, while seventy percent (70%) of the sampled male respondents coincidentally moved the opposite direction, by expressing that the women managers had low levels of aspiration for managerial position. This finding is an indication that the opinions of both sexes did not agree in the area of the aspiration of women for managerial positions.
