(other than students, members <strong>of</strong> the faculty, and members <strong>of</strong> the staffs <strong>of</strong><br />

organizations housed in University buildings) shall be subject to approval by<br />

a committee composed <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> the faculty appointed for that purpose<br />

by the President <strong>of</strong> the University and subject to regulations formulated by<br />

that committee and approved by the President.<br />

PRIVATE USE OF UNIVERSITY PROPERTY FORBIDDEN<br />

Sec. 22. No one connected with the University in any capacity shall use<br />

for any personal purpose any University property <strong>of</strong> whatever description,<br />

and no one shall be permitted to remove from the buildings or grounds any<br />

property belonging to the University, even though it may seem to be <strong>of</strong> no<br />

value, unless it be temporarily removed pursuant to some well-established<br />

regulation or usage, or with the approval <strong>of</strong> the President or the Vice-<br />

President and Comptroller <strong>of</strong> the University.<br />

CUSTODIANSHIP OF MOVABLE PROPERTY<br />

Sec. 23. (a) Movable equipment purchased by or assigned to a department<br />

shall be the responsibility <strong>of</strong> the head <strong>of</strong> the department. An inventory<br />

<strong>of</strong> all such equipment shall be maintained in a manner to be determined by<br />

the Vice-President and Comptroller. The heads <strong>of</strong> departments shall make<br />

such reports pertaining to movable equipment as the Vice-President and<br />

Comptroller requires, in accordance with the State Property Control Act.<br />

(b) The head <strong>of</strong> a department shall report to the Vice-President and<br />

Comptroller all items <strong>of</strong> equipment which are <strong>of</strong> no further use to that department,<br />

and the Vice-President and Comptroller shall transfer such equipment<br />

for use in another department or, if there is no further use for it in<br />

the University, shall dispose <strong>of</strong> it in accordance with the applicable provisions<br />

<strong>of</strong> the State Property Control Act.<br />

(c) Movable equipment for general use, meaning equipment which is<br />

usable by all departments or by various departments or by the University in<br />

general, shall be considered to be in the custody <strong>of</strong> the Director <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Physical Plant Department, who shall report to the Vice-President and<br />

Comptroller on such equipment in the same manner as the head <strong>of</strong> any<br />

department <strong>of</strong> the University.<br />

ASSIGNMENT OF PROPERTY TO DEPARTMENTS<br />

Sec. 24. (a) Land which has been assigned by the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees to<br />

a college or department for particular use or for a definite period may not<br />

be used for any other purpose nor beyond the period designated, without<br />

authorization by the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees.<br />

(b) The assignment <strong>of</strong> land, equipment, or any other property to a department<br />

or division does not give the department a title to the same, but<br />

only the right to use as long as necessary; and the use <strong>of</strong> land or equipment<br />

or other property shall not exclude its use, at the same time, for other purposes<br />

by other departments <strong>of</strong> the University, on approval <strong>of</strong> the President,<br />

provided that any such second use shall not interfere with the efficient utilization<br />

<strong>of</strong> said land, equipment, or other property for the purpose for which it<br />

was first assigned.<br />

NAMING OF BUILDINGS, STREETS, AND DRIVES<br />

Sec. 25. (a) Buildings given to the University may be named for their<br />

donors.
