BUSINESS PRESENTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY<br />

The Board took up consideration <strong>of</strong> the following reports and recommendations<br />

from the President <strong>of</strong> the University.<br />

AWARD OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT CERTIFICATES<br />

(1) The Committee on Accountancy recommends that the certificate <strong>of</strong> Certified<br />

Public Accountant be awarded, under Section 5 <strong>of</strong> the Accountancy Act <strong>of</strong> 1943,<br />

to the following candidates who have presented evidence that they are holders <strong>of</strong><br />

valid and unrevoked Certified Public Accountant certificates obtained by passing a<br />

standard written examination in another state or territory <strong>of</strong> the United States<br />

and who qualify in all other respects under this provision <strong>of</strong> the law.<br />

APPOINTMENT TO BOARD OF EXAMINERS IN ACCOUNTANCY<br />

(2) On nomination <strong>of</strong> the Committee on Accountancy, I recommend the appointment<br />

<strong>of</strong> Mr. George Ragland, Jr., A.B., LL.B., S.J.D., 11 South LaSalle Street,<br />

Chicago, Illinois, member <strong>of</strong> the law firm <strong>of</strong> Sidley, Austin, Burgess, and Smith,<br />

to the Board <strong>of</strong> Examiners in Accountancy for a period <strong>of</strong> three years beginning<br />

July 1, 1957, to replace Mr. Kenneth McCracken whose term will expire June 30,<br />

1957-<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Johnston, this appointment was approved.<br />

APPOINTMENTS TO THE FACULTY<br />

(3) The following new appointments to the faculty <strong>of</strong> the rank <strong>of</strong> Assistant<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor and above, and involving tenure, have been approved since the previous<br />

meeting <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees.<br />

1. ORLA ELBERT ADAMS, Assistant Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Business Law, on one-half time,<br />

beginning September I, 1957, at an annual salary <strong>of</strong> $3,100 (D50).<br />

2. ROBERT N. CORLEY, Assistant Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Business Law, beginning September<br />

service during one semester <strong>of</strong> each academic year, at a salary <strong>of</strong> $6,600 (G).<br />

7. HELEN G. RABICHOW, Consultant, with rank <strong>of</strong> Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor, in the<br />

School <strong>of</strong> Social Work, beginning September 1, 1957, at an annual salary <strong>of</strong><br />
