On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Hughes, the extension <strong>of</strong> this contract, as recommended,<br />

was authorized.<br />

CONTRACT FOR FURNACE MAINTENANCE AND<br />

REPAIRS IN HOUSING UNITS<br />

(20) The Director <strong>of</strong> Housing, the Director <strong>of</strong> the Physical Plant Department, and<br />

the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend award <strong>of</strong> a contract to J. R. Boers<br />

Heating Company, Champaign, the lowest bidder, for furnace maintenance and<br />

repair, work in the individual housing units operated by the University at Urbana-<br />

Champaign. This contract is for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1958, to provide<br />

for services as required, payments to be made at the following rates which are those<br />

in effect during the current fiscal year ending June 30, 1958:<br />

Contractor's Fee<br />

For Labor 3° per cent<br />

For Materials 30 per cent<br />

Labor rates are subject to adjustment for changes in rates paid generally by<br />

the contractor to his workmen for similar work with right <strong>of</strong> cancellation <strong>of</strong> the contract<br />

reserved by the University if such changes do not meet with its approval.<br />

Funds are available in the income <strong>of</strong> the Housing Division.<br />

I concur.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Johnston, this contract was authorized.<br />

CONTRACT FOR PLASTERING AND ACOUSTICAL WORK<br />

(21) The Director <strong>of</strong> the Physical Plant Department and the Vice-President and<br />

Comptroller recommend award <strong>of</strong> a contract to Edmond T. Drewitch, Urbana, the<br />

lowest bidder, for plastering, patching repairs, and acoustical installations, work to<br />

be done as needed, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1958, on the basis <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following terms: $2.25 an hour for trucking <strong>of</strong> equipment and materials for actual<br />

time used solely for transportation, provided that not over 10 per cent <strong>of</strong> one job<br />

will be charged to trucking costs, unless the total costs are $25.00 or less; contractor's<br />

fee <strong>of</strong> 18 per cent <strong>of</strong> all job costs when project costs exceed $25.00.<br />

I concur.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Swain, this contract was authorized.<br />

LEASE OF PEORIA OFFICE OF DIVISION OF SERVICES<br />

FOR CRIPPLED CHILDREN<br />

(22) The Business Manager <strong>of</strong> the Chicago Colleges and the Vice-President and<br />

Comptroller recommend renewal <strong>of</strong> a lease for <strong>of</strong>fice quarters occupied by the<br />

Division <strong>of</strong> Services for Crippled Children in the Central National Bank Building<br />

in Peoria, owned by the Central National Bank and Trust Company, for one year<br />

trom July 1, 1958, at a rental <strong>of</strong> $270.00 a month, which is the current rental.<br />

I concur.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Nickell, this lease was authorized.<br />

PURCHASES<br />

( 2 3) The Director <strong>of</strong> Purchases has proposed and the Vice-President and Comptroller<br />

recommends the following purchases. Unless otherwise specified, the<br />

purchase in each case is recommended on the basis <strong>of</strong> lowest bid.<br />
