Special Fees — Urbana and Chicago Undergraduate Division<br />

Flight-Training Fee. Students taking flight-training in the Institute <strong>of</strong><br />

Aviation pay for each flight-training course each semester a materials<br />

and supply fee <strong>of</strong><br />

"In Absentia." Students enrolled for thesis work for the master's or<br />

doctor's degree on leave <strong>of</strong> absence pay the regular tuition fee only.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Degrees. Candidates for pr<strong>of</strong>essional degrees in Engineering<br />

pay a fee <strong>of</strong><br />

(Note: This fee is to be discontinued after June, 1958.)<br />

Off-Campus Courses (field courses and social work courses in Chicago).<br />

Students pay regular tuition fee, laboratory, library, and supply fee,<br />

hospital and medical service fee, and are exempt from the Illini Union fee.<br />

Agriculture Short Course (six weeks only). Students pay resident fee <strong>of</strong><br />

$30.00 or nonresident fee <strong>of</strong> $100.00 in addition to $4.25 laboratory,<br />

library, and supply fee, #3.50 hospital and medical service fee, and $2.75<br />

Illini Union fee.<br />

Late Registration Fee. Former students who register after the regular<br />

registration days in each semester pay a late registration fee <strong>of</strong><br />

Service Charge for Deferred Fees. A service charge <strong>of</strong> 10 per cent <strong>of</strong> the<br />

amount <strong>of</strong> fees deferred, but not less than Si.00 nor more than #3.00 a<br />

semester, is assessed for the privilege <strong>of</strong> deferring fees. If the deferred<br />

amount is paid in full within ten days <strong>of</strong> first and second semester registration<br />

or five days <strong>of</strong> summer session registration, the service charge<br />

except $1.00 is refundable. The hospital and medical service fee, the<br />

Illini Union service charge, the service charge for deferring fees, and all<br />

charges from previous semesters must be paid on the days <strong>of</strong> registration.<br />

Change <strong>of</strong> Program Fee. For every change slip issued at the request <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Special Examination Fee. For any special examination given in a course<br />

which has been failed, the fee is<br />

Transcript Fee. Each student who has paid all his University fees is<br />

entitled to receive without charge one transcript <strong>of</strong> his record. For each<br />

additional transcript the fee is<br />

Listener's Fee. All persons with University appointments, all students<br />

not registered for a reduced schedule, and those graduate students who<br />

occasionally attend classes or seminars as listeners are exempt from the<br />

payment <strong>of</strong> the listener's fee. All other persons must pay for each course<br />

a fee <strong>of</strong><br />

Student Activities Fee. All students in the Undergraduate Division at<br />

Chicago registering in six semester hours or more pay a student activities<br />

fee <strong>of</strong> 6 00<br />

Fee for Instruction in University High School. University students at<br />

Urbana who also register in the University High School pay, in addition<br />

to their University fees, for each half-unit, each semester (provided that<br />

the total additional charges shall not exceed $25.00 a semester) 10 00<br />

Deposit (Chicago Undergraduate Division only)<br />

General. Each student must make a deposit <strong>of</strong> $5.00 at the time <strong>of</strong> his<br />

first registration. Chargeable against this deposit are such items as unreturned<br />

towels and locks, lost library books, library fines, shortages in<br />

laboratory equipment, etc. Whenever the amount <strong>of</strong> the $5.00 deposit<br />

falls below $2.50 the student will be required immediately by additional<br />

deposit to bring the total up to $5.00. Any balance in the deposit will be<br />

returned to the student in case he <strong>of</strong>ficially withdraws from the University.<br />

This refund <strong>of</strong> deposit will be made after the close <strong>of</strong> registration for<br />

the next regular semester following the students withdrawal.<br />

Military. Each student withdrawing military equipment must make a<br />

deposit <strong>of</strong> $10.00 at the time <strong>of</strong> issuance. The deposit will be returned to<br />

the student, upon the return <strong>of</strong> the military equipment, at the end <strong>of</strong><br />

each school year.
