On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Herrick, these contracts were awarded, as recommended,<br />

and the Comptroller and Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board were authorized<br />

to execute the same. This action was taken by the following vote:<br />

CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ADDITION TO POWER PLANT<br />

(9) The Director <strong>of</strong> the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller<br />

recommend award <strong>of</strong> a contract for $377,613 to Chism and Miller, Inc., Springfield,<br />

Illinois, the only bidder, for the superstructure work on the addition to the<br />

Abbott Power Plant.<br />

Funds are available in the state appropriations to the University for 1955-57<br />

for buildings and other permanent improvements, subject to release by the<br />

Governor.<br />

I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Board be authorized to execute this contract, subject to the release <strong>of</strong> funds.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Swain, this contract was awarded, as recommended,<br />

and the Comptroller and Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board were authorized<br />

to execute the same. This action was taken by the following vote:<br />

CONTRACT FOR INTERIOR DECORATING SERVICES<br />

IN LINCOLN AVENUE RESIDENCE ADDITION<br />

(10) The Director <strong>of</strong> the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller<br />

recommend the employment <strong>of</strong> Ernst Von Amnion, Chicago, as interior decorator<br />

for the public areas in the addition to Lincoln Avenue Residence, at a fee <strong>of</strong> $3,5 00 -<br />

His services will include consultation with the architects, selection <strong>of</strong> colors, floor<br />

plans, selection <strong>of</strong> furniture, and supplying information needed to enable the<br />

University to secure bids on the equipment.<br />

I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board<br />

be authorized to execute the contract.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Johnston, this contract was awarded, as recommended,<br />

and the Comptroller and Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board were authorized<br />

to execute the same.<br />

PIPE LINE EASEMENT ON WRIGHT FARMS<br />

(11) The Great Lakes Pipe Line Company has requested permission to lay a pipe<br />

line across Wright Farm No. 6 in DeKalb County and to reimburse the University<br />

in the amount <strong>of</strong> $2.00 for each rod <strong>of</strong> pipe laid plus $5.00 for the easement. In<br />

addition, the Company will pay for all damages. The Dean <strong>of</strong> the College <strong>of</strong> Agriculture<br />

and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend adoption <strong>of</strong> the following<br />

resolution:<br />

Be It Resolved by the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees <strong>of</strong> the University <strong>of</strong> Illinois, a public<br />

corporation <strong>of</strong> the state <strong>of</strong> Illinois, that the Comptroller and the Secretary <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees be and hereby are authorized to execute, acknowledge, and<br />

deliver in the name <strong>of</strong> and in behalf <strong>of</strong> this corporation, an instrument <strong>of</strong> conveyance<br />

in such form, and other documents in connection therewith, as to them may<br />

seem necessary or desirable in order to effectuate a conveyance to the Great Lakes<br />

Pipe Line Company, its successors or assigns, hereinafter called Grantee, <strong>of</strong> a<br />

right <strong>of</strong> easement to construct, maintain, inspect, operate, protect, repair, replace,<br />

and remove a pipe line <strong>of</strong> not more than twelve inches in diameter and appurtenances<br />

for the transportation <strong>of</strong> oil or oil products, gas and water, and if necessary<br />

to construct, maintain, operate, repair, remove, and replace communication
