necessary piping to hook up the new system, installation <strong>of</strong> the absorption unit,<br />

remodeling <strong>of</strong> the present condensate water pump, a new chilled water pump, new<br />

condensate meter, receiver, and condensate return pump.<br />

I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board<br />

be authorized to execute this contract.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Johnston, this contract was awarded, and the<br />

Comptroller and Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board were authorized to execute<br />

the same.<br />

CONTRACT FOR REROOFING AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING<br />

AND FILTRATION PLANT BUILDINGS<br />

(19) The Director <strong>of</strong> the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller<br />

recommend award <strong>of</strong> a contract for $4,430 to Industrial Ro<strong>of</strong>ing Company, Mattoon,<br />

the lowest bidder, for rero<strong>of</strong>ing the Agricultural Engineering and Filtration Plant<br />

Buildings.<br />

Funds are available in the budget <strong>of</strong> the Physical Plant Department.<br />

I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board<br />

be authorized to execute this contract.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Swain, this contract was awarded, and the<br />

Comptroller and Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board were authorized to execute<br />

the same.<br />

CONTRACT FOR EXTENSION OF PNEUMATIC TUBE SYSTEM IN THE<br />

RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS<br />

(20) The Director <strong>of</strong> the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller<br />

recommend the award <strong>of</strong> a contract for $15,071 to the Lamson Corporation, Chicago,<br />

for extension <strong>of</strong> the present pneumatic tube system in the Research and Educational<br />

Hospitals to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic area. This is a non-competitive<br />

item because the Lamson Corporation installed the present system and other firms<br />

can not furnish compatible component parts for this extension.<br />

The work will consist <strong>of</strong> the installation <strong>of</strong> a substation in the Obstetrics and<br />

Gynecology Clinic on the first floor <strong>of</strong> the Research and Educational Hospitals to<br />

connect with the Medical Records Department in the basement. It will also include<br />

installation <strong>of</strong> a new power exhauster unit and modification <strong>of</strong> present exhaust and<br />

intake manifolds.<br />

This will be a part <strong>of</strong> the remodeling program in the Research and Educational<br />

Hospitals, for which funds are available in the state appropriation for "Rehabilitations<br />

and Minor Additions to Existing Buildings."<br />

I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board<br />

be authorized to execute this contract.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mrs. Watkins, this contract was awarded, and the<br />

Comptroller and Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board were authorized to execute<br />

the same.<br />

ADDITIONS TO CONTRACTS FOR ADDITION TO<br />

LINCOLN AVENUE RESIDENCE<br />

(21) The Director <strong>of</strong> the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller<br />

recommend the following increases in contracts for the construction <strong>of</strong> the addition<br />

to the Lincoln Avenue Residence to provide bedrooms and storage space in the area<br />

originally planned as a snack bar:<br />

Electric — Aschinger Electric Company, Streator $3 797 75<br />

Plumbing — Robert R. Murphy, Chicago 5 983 00<br />

Funds are available in the construction fund for this project. Elimination <strong>of</strong> the<br />

snack bar will result in reductions in the general contract and the equipment contract<br />

which will more than <strong>of</strong>fset these increases.<br />

I concur and recommend that the Comptroller <strong>of</strong> the Board be authorized to<br />

execute the necessary contract changes.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Herrick, the Comptroller was authorized to<br />

execute this change in the contract.
