<strong>of</strong> Trustees may appoint biennially deans with appropriate titles and jurisdiction<br />

who shall have general supervision over extracurricular activities <strong>of</strong><br />

students at the campus <strong>of</strong> such unit.<br />

(c) The responsibility and authority <strong>of</strong> these <strong>of</strong>ficers are set forth in The<br />

General Rules Concerning University Organization and Procedure.<br />

(d) There shall be established a Council <strong>of</strong> Deans <strong>of</strong> Students, composed<br />

<strong>of</strong> those <strong>of</strong>ficials on the three campuses, for the exchange <strong>of</strong> information<br />

in the field <strong>of</strong> student affairs. The chairman <strong>of</strong> that Council shall be the<br />

University Dean <strong>of</strong> Students.<br />

DIRECTOR OF THE PHYSICAL PLANT<br />

Sec. 49. The Director <strong>of</strong> the Physical Plant shall be appointed biennially<br />

by the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees on the nomination <strong>of</strong> the President. His responsibilities<br />

include the operation and maintenance <strong>of</strong> and capital additions to the<br />

physical plant at Urbana-Champaign (excluding the Airport, Robert Allerton<br />

Park, the experimental farms, and properties maintained by the Athletic<br />

Association), at the Chicago Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Colleges, and at the Chicago Undergraduate<br />

Division.<br />

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC INFORMATION<br />

Sec. 50. (a) The Director <strong>of</strong> Public Information shall be appointed biennially<br />

by the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees on the nomination <strong>of</strong> the President and shall<br />

be under the direct supervision <strong>of</strong> the President.<br />

(b) He shall advise with the President on all University matters in which<br />

the public is interested; assist in interpreting University policies and activities<br />

through publications, press, radio, television, and any other available channels;<br />

and perform such other duties as may be assigned to him by the<br />

President.<br />

DIRECTOR OF NONACADEMIC PERSONNEL<br />

Sec. 51. The Director <strong>of</strong> Nonacademic Personnel shall be appointed<br />

biennially by the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees on the nomination <strong>of</strong> the President. He<br />

is responsible, under the executive authority <strong>of</strong> the President, for the administration<br />

<strong>of</strong> policy and rules relating to compensation and working conditions<br />

<strong>of</strong> nonacademic employees (as approved and adopted by the Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Trustees) and for the performance <strong>of</strong> other duties assigned to him by the<br />

President.<br />

DIRECTOR OF HEALTH SERVICES<br />

Sec. 52. (a) The Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees, on the recommendation <strong>of</strong> the<br />

President, shall appoint biennially a Director <strong>of</strong> Health Services, who shall<br />

have general supervision at the Urbana-Champaign campus and at the<br />

Chicago Undergraduate Division <strong>of</strong> the health functions delegated to him,<br />

as set forth in The General Rules Concerning University Organization and<br />

Procedure.<br />

(b) The Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees, on the recommendation <strong>of</strong> the Vice-<br />

President in Charge <strong>of</strong> the Chicago Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Colleges and on the nomination<br />

<strong>of</strong> the President, shall also appoint biennially, a Director <strong>of</strong> the Health<br />

Service at the Chicago Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Colleges.<br />

(c) On the recommendation <strong>of</strong> the Director <strong>of</strong> Health Services appointed<br />

under Paragraph (a), in consultation with the Executive Dean <strong>of</strong> the Chi-
