IntroductionThis chapter contains two adventure issues,Battle of the Bands and A Conspiracy ofClones. They are both ready to be run for a groupof heroes, though they each have been createdwith different purposes. We’ll get more into thespecifics in their sections below.If you’re a hero player who is likely to play ineither of these adventures, we recommend you donot read ahead. However, if you’re a GM intendingto run one of them, the best place to start is toread the entire adventure first. Having an idea ofwhat elements exist for you to use in each scene isincredibly helpful when running the game.Each adventure issue is made up of these sections:• Issue Background: the story leading up to thepoint of where this adventure issue begins• Issue Structure: the events of this adventureissue, told in a few paragraphs to give GMs anoverview of what’s happening• Scenes: the playable parts of the adventureissue, including scene trackers, challenges,threats, possibly an environment with its owntwists and threats, and a conclusion• Aftermath: what happens after the end of thelast scene, including possible story hooks forwhat could happen next issueLet’s dig into each of these adventure issues andwhat makes them unique!Battle of the BandsThis adventure issue is intended to be run fortwo to five of the heroes from the team Daybreak,found on pages 324-345 of Chapter 7. It’s a specificstory about the villain team Helfyre and their heavymetal villainous plot, and the plucky teenagers thatwork together to stop them!Battle of the Bands is a great issue to runas a first time GM, or for any players new to thesystem. It’s built to be played in one sitting, andit uses heroes already created to help reduceplayer overhead. This issue has only two scenes,and both are relatively simple. Neither involvesan environment, and the challenges and twists arefairly straightforward.Not to say that it’s not an interesting orworthwhile issue — far from it! Scene 2 involves afight against a team of villains during a rock concert,which is a pretty cool set piece. Note that the villainsin the second scene are mostly the same as theversions found in Chapter 7, but specifically withoutany upgrades or masteries. When using a team ofvillains, they don’t get upgrades or masteries, asthey have teamwork instead!If you have a group of players that want to playtheir own heroes, but you think Battle of theBands would work well for them, that’s possiblewith a few tweaks. There is information for adaptingthe issue to a different group of heroes at the endof the adventure on page 266.A Conspiracy of ClonesThis adventure issue is a peek at the complexitiespossible within SCRPG. Unlike Battle of theBands, this adventure issue is not written with aspecific set of heroes in mind, and even has elementsthat will react to whatever type of heroes the playersare using. But be careful: in this adventure, you don’tknow who is real, and who is a clone!A Conspiracy of Clones has three scenes,each with their own environment specific to thisstory. The players will learn about the clones in thefirst scene, investigate where they came from in thesecond scene in a sprawling, interactive environmentthat will put their problem-solving skills to the test,and finally face the mastermind behind everythingin the third scene, as well as some foes with far-toofamiliarfaces.The villain in the third scene is a solo villain, sothey have upgrades and masteries at their disposal,but note that the villain isn’t a particularly sturdyone. This villain isn’t a front-line fighter, but one thatuses minions and lieutenants to do their dirty workwhile they scheme in the shadows — make use ofthat scheming to bring more minions into the sceneand monologue at the heroes’ expense.This adventure issue has so many twists and turnsthat it’s possible for it to take more than one sessionof play to complete. That’s totally fine, just takenote of where you are, record it as an issue played,and pick up the next time with another issue —an adventure issue doesn’t necessarily have to becompleted in one issue of play.
