La petite Alphée est atteinte d’une maladie
génétique qui ralentit son développement.
Alors que la fillette, âgée de
cinq ans, devrait aller dans une école
spécialisée, ses parents décident de
sauter le pas et de chambouler leur quotidien
québécois. Pendant une année,
ils emmènent Alphée et son frère
dans un village de Suisse romande, où
Laure, la mère d’Alphée, est née. Au
travers d’un journal intime cinématographique,
le père et réalisateur Hugo
Latulippe, se rapproche de sa fille. On
l’entend s’adresser à elle en voix-off,
lui confiant ses petits soucis et surtout
ses joies lorsqu’il découvre à quel point
elle s’épanouit dans la nature et peut se
développer à son rythme. Sa patience
est toutefois mise à rude épreuve,
notamment lorsque Alphée ne veut plus
apprendre par le jeu. Ce regard cinématographique
à la fois doux et patient
donne naissance à quelques scènes
magiques, où le temps semble s’écouler
lentement et l’on prend plaisir à simplement
observer cette petite fille joyeuse.
Alphée des étoiles est une déclaration
d’amour émouvante, mais aussi une invitation
à vivre à son propre rythme.
Die kleine Alphée ist von einer genetischen
Krankheit betroffen, die ihre Entwicklung
verlangsamt. Als das Mädchen
mit fünf Jahren in eine Sonderschule
kommen soll, wagen ihre Eltern den
Schritt und brechen aus ihrem beschäftigten
Alltag in Quebec aus. Sie ziehen
mit Alphée und ihrem Bruder für ein
Jahr lang in das Westschweizer Dorf, wo
Alphées Mutter Laure geboren wurde.
Mit einem filmischen Tagebuch nähert
sich der Vater und Filmemacher Hugo
Latulippe während dieses Jahres seiner
Tochter an. Er richtet sich in seinem
Kommentar im Off an sie, berichtet von
kleinen Sorgen und vor allem Freuden,
wenn er beobachten kann, wie seine
Tochter in der Natur aufblüht und sich in
ihrem Rhythmus entwickeln darf. Seine
Geduld wird auch herausgefordert, etwa
wenn Alphée nicht mehr spielerisch
lernen mag. Der zärtliche und geduldige
filmische Blick ermöglicht mehrere
magische Szenen, wo die Zeit still zu
stehen scheint und wir dem fröhlichen
Mädchen einfach nur zuschauen möchten.
Alphée des étoiles ist eine bewegende
Liebeserklärung und zugleich die
Aufforderung, nach dem eigenen Rhythmus
zu leben.
Little Alphée suffers from a genetic disease
that slows down her development.
When the 5-year-old girl is supposed to
go to a special school, her parents take
the risk of breaking away from their busy
everyday life in Quebec. With Alphée and
her brother, they relocate for one year to
a village in the French part of Switzerland
where Alphée’s mother Laure was born.
In a filmed journal, Alphée’s father, director
Hugo Latulippe spends this year
getting closer to his daughter. He comments
about her off screen, reports on
little concerns and especially on the
joys of observing his daughter thriving
in nature and being allowed to develop
her own rhythm. His patience is also
challenged, for example when Alphée
no longer wants to learn through playing.
This gentle and patient cinematic vision
allows multiple magical scenes where
time seems to stand still and we simply
want to watch the cheerful girl. Alphée
des étoiles is a moving declaration of
love and also an invitation to live life
according to one’s own rhythm.
