Bledo
Serbia | 2013 | 20’ | HD | Serbian, Arabic
Pale
World Premiere
Banja Koviljaca est une bourgade serbe
frontalière de la Bosnie devenue un
lieu de transit pour quelque mille cinq
cents migrants africains, asiatiques
ou balkaniques qui tentent de passer
illégalement en Europe. Tourné en
quelques mois, Bledo relate l’aberration
géographique d’un « village » censé
être ethniquement pur depuis la fin de
la guerre en ex-Yougoslavie et dont
les habitants s’accommodent pourtant
de la présence d’une population
« indésirable »… moyennant finances.
Après une manifestation en tracteurs (!)
demandant la fin de cette exception et
l’intervention d’unités de police, Banja
Koviljaca « libérée » peut se vautrer dans
le provincialisme le plus abject. Marko
Grba Singh mène son film subtilement
du côté de la farce grinçante teintée
d’une certaine mélancolie. Enchaînant
un clip de musique éthiopienne trouvé
sur youtube – signe de la virtualité de
l’« ailleurs » quand cet ailleurs s’est brutalement
effacé de la vie quotidienne
réelle – avec des séquences filmées
pendant « le carnaval royal » que fêtent
bruyamment ses compatriotes serbes,
le cinéaste montre une communauté
enfermée dans les faux-semblants de
l’entre-soi.
Banja Koviljaca ist eine kleine serbische
Ortschaft an der bosnischen Grenze, die
zu einem Durchgangsort für rund eintausend
fünfhundert Migranten aus Afrika,
Asien oder dem Balkan geworden ist,
die versuchen, illegal nach Europa einzureisen.
Bledo, innerhalb weniger Monate
gedreht, ist die Chronik der geografischen
Absurdität eines «Dorfes», das seit
Ende des Kriegs im ehemaligen Jugoslawien
eigentlich ethnisch rein sein soll,
dessen Bewohner sich gegen Bares
jedoch mit der Gegenwart einer «unerwünschten»
Bevölkerung abfinden. Nach
einer Demonstration auf Traktoren (!),
mit der ein Ende dieser Ausnahme und
das Einschreiten von Polizeieinheiten
gefordert wurde, kann sich das «befreite»
Banja Koviljaca wieder im niederträchtigsten
Provinzialismus suhlen.
Marko Grba Singh führt seinen Film
subtil am Rande der knirschenden, von
einer gewissen Melancholie durchdrungenen
Farce entlang. Durch die
Aneinanderreihung eines auf Youtube
gefundenen äthiopischen Videoclips
als Zeichen der Virtualität des «anderswo»,
wenn dieses anderswo plötzlich aus
dem realen täglichen Leben verschwunden
ist, mit Sequenzen, die während des
«königlichen Karnevals» gefilmt wurden,
den seine Landsleute lautstark feiern,
zeigt der Filmemacher eine in den falschen
Schein des Untereinanderseins
eingeschlossenen Gemeinschaft.
Banja Koviljaca is a small Serbian town
on the Bosnian border that has become
a transit point for some fifteen hundred
African, Asian and Balkan migrants trying
to cross illegally into Europe. Filmed
over several months, Bledo chronicles
the geographical aberration of this “village”,
which is supposedly ethnically
pure since the end of the war in the former
Yugoslavia, whose inhabitants are
nonetheless putting up with the presence
of an “unwanted” population… at
a price. After a tractor demonstration (!)
demanding the end of this exception
and the intervention of police units, the
“liberated” Banja Koviljaca is able to wallow
in the most despicable provincialism.
Marko Grba Singh subtly leads his film
into sardonic farce, tainted by a certain
melancholy. Linking a clip of Ethiopian
music found on YouTube – a sign of the
virtual character of the “elsewhere” when
this elsewhere is brutally obliterated
from real everyday life – with sequences
filmed during the “Royal Carnival” that
his fellow Serbians noisily celebrate, the
filmmaker shows a community hemmed
in by the pretences of its own nature.
